I want to make my own shaving mug and brush out of wood but I can't find anything on google about making your own. Anyone know what kind of wood to use? Or what tools to use?

For the mug, you could look into carving. Saw a vid on youtube as well about using a lathe.
For a mug, you can make it in any of these ways without a lathe:
Drill or drill press, with a large forstner bit or hole saw
Scroll saw to cut out a tube from the center, might have to make layers
A router
For the brush, there's tons of ways to make a small round handle. If we have to tell you how to do that, then go buy one.
