I'd like to know if anyone has experience with isomalt sugar?

I'd like to cast a slab of white non-translucent isomalt (about 55 per 80 per 3 cm). I found online that Cakeplay makes white isomalt ready to be melted in the microwave, which would be easier to use, but it's pretty expensive and I need lots of it to fill my cast.

Does anyone know how I can produce a great quantity of white matte isomalt with a limited budget?

any reason you need it to be made of artificial sweetener, flyboy?

just make pulled sugar, add food grade white pigment, press down into mold.

Actually I don't care if it's sugar or not, I'm just trying to produce a slab which needs to be opaque (and possibly shiny) and that could be destroyed if rained upon or exposed to water.

I found isomalt, which seemed to be the easiest way with to produce such an object. But any other ideas are welcome.

Pool salt is cheap.
Theres a recipe for mixing talcum powder, pool salt and ethylene glycol to make rigid water soluble casts here. http://www.jmst.org/fileup/PDF/2009196.pdf
