I am attempting to construct a multifunction desk. I found this design online and would not really care to drop the 10k+ for it. I would also find it fun to build myself. I just cannot seem to figure out from the pictures how to go about making the mechanism. Any ideas?

Ive been looking into doing some simple robotics. But it fucks me trying to find a retailer that will sell such parts. Usually you cqn buy a set of interlocking robotics parts for 1000$+ as some kind of educational set. But i just want bearings and ways to mount them and interface with say an ordinary 14mm woodruff motor spindle. to make such a 4 bar linkage with arbitrary materials like say steel tubing. What should i be googling?

Is that a store? I am from emulandia. Google says mcmaster is a robotics club/competition? Im just intrigued by the semi linear motion of the 4 bar thingo and its applications for walnut prodding. Is there a three dimensional equivalent to this? I want to keep mostly linear motion but also add an extra swivelled action on a third axis.

McMaster is where we amerifats buy mechanical components and metal stock for rather high prices but it's okay because it comes in individual ziplock bags.
