Is there another way to create bending/winding holes within metal without casting it with some lost wax method?

Only other way I can think of is drilling holes from the outside to meet up, then staking in a small ball bearing to seal the outside(as done for crankshaft oil passages), but I'm not sure if that'll get you what you need.
