How small?
For building a wind turbine you need some magnets, copper wire, and metal/plastic/wood for building the blades, stand, and mounting.
Small scale won't get you much though. You will also need to get it up high into the air to get decent average wind speeds. Just putting it on a roof of a house isn't high enough.

If op had attempted to discuss his idea or asked for advice on particulars that would be one thing. The answer to what op asked is, "get the materials needed and assemble them." No room for discussion with that. Op also never told us what his definition of small scale is either, so why bother explaining how to make a 30 foot tall turbine when he could want something to put in his window to charge his phone. The implication is that not only does he not know what he's doing, but that he also doesn't know what he wants to do. And does this board really need more threads based around, "here's my half assed idea that will never be more than a passing thought."
As for you, if you don't want to spell correctly why do you bother typing?
Small scale wind energy isn't really logical because the cost of creating the parts is greater than the energy you get from the turbine. Even large scale isn't very good.

IIRC pretty much any motor can become a generator. There are numerous books on the subject for homesteaders and the like, just go to the library. The hard part is figuring out something useful to do with the power.
larger dc motors like from a treadmill or a trolling motor can work. permanent magnet motors.
i have a 36 volt dc motor from an old electric childs toy car, i havnt revved it up yet to see what happens though.

There has to be better options than a alternator.
Alternators like running at very high rpm. At low rpm it produces nothing, and low rpm is where wind generators spend the majority of their time running.

Also with car alternator, you need to come up with electronic regulation of the field strength, or else the alternator would stop due to low torque of the turbine.
Easiest workaround is to make your own alternator using copper wire and neodymium magnets.
Also a ceiling fan motor is a good choice for an alternator.

Anyone recommending standard car alternators is a total noob to the subject. Some people split the field coil and fit a permanent magnet but its still far from ideal.
