What do you use a scope for? Sorry but I know nothing about them
>>
>>896930
Installing gentoo.
Loljk, they're for observing and analyzing electronic signals and waveforms. They can be used for lots of things, tho.
>>
>>896930
An oscilloscope produces a graph of voltage vs time. Most electronic signals are much too fast to analyze with a blinking LED or reading values from a voltmeter. The analog CRT ones work by running a sawtooth wave into the horizontal deflection coil and amplifying the input signal to control the vertical defliction coil. A digital scope uses an analog to digital converter to read values then draws them on a display with a simple graphics card.

I've used many different name-brand soldering irons in many different scenarios, but I am despite that ridiculously attached to my own AOYUE 2901. The 10 mm chisel tip is the only tip you'll ever need again in your entire life, from medium pitch QFP to desoldering motherboard MOSFETs.

Anyway, here's workbench as of today.

It has digital readout and you can order every single piece of it individually if a part breaks. About 100 dollars. Heats up in about 30 seconds.

I think I need some real sense talked into me. I'm young and getting into the game as an EE (graduating in a year or so) and I've managed to pick up five Hameg HM407's recently.

The university was throwing them away and I've always fetishised having the technology so it was a no brainer to pick up and take as many as I could. I imagined having racks and racks of glowing displays and visable traces.

Except 1 year on and I haven't used them at all. In fact they're not even on my bench due to space constraints and the fact that I picked up a Tek TDS210.

I'm also in the spot for needing some cash to either buy a car, build up savings or buy equipment; so I've been thinking about selling these for a while now.

I just can't bring myself to let them go, fear of not "getting enough' for them and the fear that some day in my future I might want or even NEED 5 analog scopes on my desk still sits in my mind.

Thought I post here because at the end of the day I have old equipment that's not on my bench and won't be.

What do I do?

it was even worse earlier today.
trying to get it under control.

i think the problem is that i have even better tools and partselections at work.
so most of my projects are done there after hours, making this the place i though shit up in a hurry.

this is bad and i need to stop.
trying to get shit in order before i start making tube amps again.

plan is to make 5w SE prototype(almost done) to to test varios preamp prototypes with, before i tackle the beast that is gonna be my 50W amp.

Is there a cavity between the corrugated sections of that steel wall, or is it just one piece?

If that's a cold climate, I'd invest in some sticks and fiberglass and drywall or something and build an interior wall. I feel cold just looking at it.

It's a warm climate, never snows.
There's just an open space between the corrugation and the concrete slab, maybe more concrete in there would work but there's the roof too.

I've already planned to build it in, floating floor, bigger windows.

Most of these workstations seem to lean more to the light electrical/technical side. I expected to see a lot more carpentry shops than anything since that is probably the easiest DIY category to get into.

They remind me a lot of my father's work stations when he used to work for a telecoms company.

Will post my junkyard later if I manage to clean it up today.

I'm moving into this place next week. The pipes across the counter attach to a giant wet/dry vac big enough for me to crawl in. I've seen some miter saws with dust bags, and spent some time in a few woodshops with vacuum systems... Is that all this can be used for? Seems like a lot of fuss to avoid emptying a few dust bags.
>>
>>902727
You've never seen a central vacuum system before? You can use it for dust control, cleaning up spills, anything a regular shop vac can do, it can do, you just don't have lug around a shop vac all over the place.
>>
>>902727
if it vents to outside it's worlds better for your air quality than emptying bags.
