While I suppose it would fit under that description, usually the main reason Youtubers do that is to prevent people from stealing and re-uploading their videos, filling them with obnoxious advertising in the process. This doesn't just steal profit from, but it can also damage the reputation of the producer since the videos are going to be of inferior quality and not representative of their work.
