I originally had plans for a headphone amp but I would have ended up dropping way too much money for something I don't need.
I'd like to build up a nice portfolio for applying for my EE masters.

Sadly most projects involving tubes are pricey. The only cheap way is to find a very small project requiring minimal parts, or impractically scavenge parts from old circuit boards.

The most expensive part of tube amps is usually the transformers. Making those yourself is cheaper than buying them but it is a pain in the butt...

your 6sn7 is a medium gain dual triode which would be fine for a line level first stage of an audio amp. You would still need some beam power tubes for the output stage. as for the transformers edcor sells very reasonably priced output transformers.

of course you have to match the output tubes with the impedance of the transformer.

You will need a power transformer which edcor sells those as well. You would need a plate voltage of less than 450v using a modern rectifier that would be about 300vac

a beam pentode 6v6 needs a plate voltage of 315vdc you need 220ac for that. You would need 2 6v6's for a single ended amp that would output about 7 watts per channel.

edcor makes things on demand so expect a delay of about 6 weeks when ordering.
