Hi /diy/, I'm back again with more boat repair problems.
In the process of cutting out the floor, I finally accepted that the only way to get all of it out and do the best job possible is to pry the cap off. Fast forward to today: rub rail is off, rivets out, adhesive around the sides cracked. The bow and sides came up easy, but the transom area of the cap refuses to budge. I have removed all the putty, cracked all the glue behind the splashwell, etc, and still it refuses to pop off. What the hell am I doing wrong?
Pic is what I'm working with.
Just a shot in the dark.
The steering cable could provably be running through a hull support?
I notice it is pretty much off on port and not budged from starboard.
Remove all cleats and other auxiliaries if they are bolted or screwed on.
The hull doesn't have to be built symmetrically.
Grab a friend and let him do the gentle prying and you then feel along the starboard side while he is "massaging" it and you will feel where the fiber glass is flexing due to resistance.
It could also just be that the cap is on fucking tight and you need to pry from the other side.

The eyelet in the back looks suspect as well
Check out my boat problem
Update: I went full caveman and jacked it up high, then stomped on the hull from inside. Fucker popped right off. Guess it was a matter of breaking the last glue bonds around the transom (which is also apparently a total piece of shit and needs to be replaced now).

That anode and anti-foul look new, so I'm guessing you just spent money on it. are you just waiting for the prop to arrive or something?

Could be worse. My boat problem is that it doesn't have a motor or trailer also I have to do some welding on the transom but also I don't want to spend money.

Waiting on the prop, need to attach the skeg replacement, also need to JB Weld a hole it blew in the other side of the lower.
River was lower than usual, depth gauge was off, drove right into some 12" deep water.

>old props chewed to fuck
>run them like that for years
>they start pitting
>brand new pair of brass props
>leave boat on mooring with everything alright and normal
>come back next day
>single blade on each prop bent outwards nearly flush over exhaust
What the hell
Cap is off, floor is out. Do I do the transom and then the floor, or the floor and then the transom? Also trying to figure out how to get all the rotted wood out of the transom area without ripping up the inner skin.

Right now is your last chance to omit foam. Which I highly recommend.
Foam is for dentists and accountants

Yeah, Im not gonna refoam it. I'm in a bit of a rush for a few reasons and decided that this is gonna be a poor man's build anyway, so no extra steps or precautions. This boat is basically junk and I just wanna squeeze whatever life is left out of it.
But seriously, how the fuck do I get this stuff out?
use a chainsaw

Have you tried acetone?
