hey guys, I have a problem with my shingle, pic related, anyways, somehow, one of them cracked a little and was raised, I noticed this because I went to check my roof after I found water leaking in through my roof , I'm planning to replace it myself, I've read a few tutorials on the internet, and already have a general idea of how to, I don't have any actual experience though. are there things I should avoid? anyone have any tips?
Throw a tarp over it until you can get a good dry day or 2 (maybe more if you're working alone and it's a large roof).
How steep is the roof? If it's very steep get some roof jacks.
Shingling is pretty easy actually. There is a reason it is the lowest paid trade. One of the few jobs you can get without a high school education and most places don't make you take a drug test.

not too steep, I'd say about a 15-20° incline at most
can you get a bigger picture so we can see more around it? looks like wind damage to me
if it's just a single shingle i'd just tar the thing and call it a day.

yeah, it was just that one shingle, all the other ones are in pretty much mint condition, actually, I'll get a bigger pic if the thread is still alive tomorrow

i'm thinking tar would work fine but really need to see the area around that shingle.
generally replacing a single shingle is a bitch due to how they are layered so it's pretty hard to do without the risk of causing an even bigger leak

Tar it mate you can get this stuff called blackjack here in the UK. It works really well.
