Planning on renting this basement for approx 300 usd a month in downtown The Hague/Holland. I will live here for about four years by myself. So, it's obviously a cool space to live for a 21yo guy getting his degrees.
Anyway, I have some cool ideas for this extremely large space.. and hopefully you have some too.
So far:

OP, as a dutchfag living in student rooms of 12m2, let me first tell you got very lucky with that kind of space/price in the Hague. Its an amazing space!
Practical tips:
>get a source of water in your basement. Do you have a tap there or only upstairs? Most rooms i know, even the tiny ones have at least a source of water. In time, you will grow annoyed to have to walk a tiny distance to get a cup of water
>that said; get a tiny kitchen. Even a small cooking plate as in pic related is really helpful. Really, being able to cook something at your apartment will help you feel at home. Even if its just a shitty egg in the morning. If you got money to spend, get one of those mini-kitchens that comes with a refrigerator. Literally takes up 2m2 and its a great addition. Alternatively: discuss with your landlord on buying one, each paying half if you agree to leave it there when you move out

Not sure how it works over there, but here you can't just use tons of utilities because they are free. So running a bunch of industrial heaters would likely void your lease and get you evicted.
Get a couple arcade cabinets, and put some emulators on them. You can build your own from scratch for only a couple hundred bucks. There's all kinds of how-tos and instructables about building retro game emulators. the biggest problem would be making your own side art, but you can probably just find some stencils on line, and spray paint it up in layers.
Bonus points if you can build 2, and interconnect them for multiplayer.

again, you can build your own cabinet pretty cheap. Shouldn't take more than 2-3 sheets of plywood, and a couple 2x2s. that's like 30-40 bucks depending on the price of lumber in your area. As for the wiring, I couldn't tell you. all the tutorials I've seen for this type of thing are people using a Raspberry pi to cram it into a handheld. But it should be a whole lot easier with bigger components and more space to work with.

If you are using a space like this for music and such, just as a courtesy, I suggest sound dampeners on the walls. Maybe you can make them decorative, and that may also help with the barren walls. That's my 2 cents anyways.
