Hello fellas.
Yesterday i realised that my laptp's chargeplug is grenade ring.
Remembered about MagSafe, and thought - what if implement that shiet by myself in laptop?

Tried to google - nothing like this, only apple things.

Tried to find any LAPTOP ports - zero results, only cables and plugs.

Does anybody tried to do such ting?

I don't know anything about buying parts for this but I know apple took the idea from deep fryers which all have a magnetic cord so you don't dump boiling oil all over yourself. Maybe looking in that direction could help?

I have an air pump putting air through an air stone in a mason jar. This is helping with humidity and oxygen but not much. I also have a humidifier putting some amount of humid air into the chamber from a whole in the bottom. I'm not too familiar with humidifiers but this one seems to not be working too well. I bought it second hand for $4. I guess you get what you pay for.
>>
Will the addition of perlite help or should I just go buy a $50 terrarium humidifier?

Get a new bin

Drill 1 inch holes on each side

stuff with polyfill

Use a fan that has indirect air flow on the box.

Raspberry pi

Why?
Whats the special word?
Is this related to autism in some way?

1 MB,
So the bathtub faucet has been leaking but my shower head is fine. Since Im covered under warranty, I had a plumber look at it. He said in order to fix the faucet I will have to have someone come and remove the whole wall of tile. What I expected to be a simple cartridge replacement turns out to be a whole different fiasco. Should I remove the tile myself or try to replace the cartridge myself instead? Pic related.

>>933063
What's behind that wall? You could just cut behind, and install an acces panel. And get the opinion of another plumber just in case.
>>
>>933072
This, take the drywall down behind it.
That is unless your faucet faces the outside wall then you are screwed.
>>
>>933063
technically you dont have to remove the whole wall of tile, but he probably wants to keep the color/ aged look of the tile the same.

removing and installing a new shower diverter is doable for a novice /diy/. if you could get to it from a drywall angle like >>933072 suggests it would be a lot easier

removing and installing new tile is probably too hard. removing the current tiles and drywall and prepping the new surface for tiles after you fix it is not trivial.

large gears you can cut out from templates, small gears pretty much have to be made on a watch making lathe.Honestly, your best bet is just to buy them from aliexpress.

For anything more interesting than just gears, linkages are pretty great and easy to make. They are just difficult to design.

Oh and don't even attempt cams, they are a lot harder to design and make than they look.

I need a tiny bit of advice from you guys for a simple project

I'm buying the attached desk for my room soon but I don't really want the clear glass. My current desk is black glass, and I'm really fond of that.

How can I make this glass look like black glass? Upon closer examination of my current desk, the glass isn't actually black, the underside just has a thin black sticker under it, and that works pretty well apparently.

I'm wondering, can I just buy some Matte Black Spray Paint, some masking tape (so the edges...

I want to build a charcoal forge to melt aluminium, then use that to cast segments of a giant parabolic dish which will be used for a multitude of things including making a solar forge.

The charcoal forge is going to be the simple "plaster+sand insulated container with an air feed and a steel crucible" design popularised on YouTube.

However, forges are things I have no experience with, anything I should know that a complete amateur almost certainly wouldn't?

Oh, also, are fire extinguishers typically made of steel?
I'm hoping I can get hold of a used up disposable extinguisher and lop the top off to use it as a crucible.
Although it wouldn't work for a solar forge if it got to steel-melting temperatures. Pity there's not really any way I can make a crucible for melting steel.

Recently acquired this Marantz PMD222 for cheap, it works pretty great except for one thing. Whenever it's playing and I move it, the tape speed slows down drastically. It seems to be proportionate to the speed at which I move it, but sometimes it doesn't happen. It happens probably 3/4 of the time if not more.

Naturally this is a fucking problem for a portable cassette tape player. I searched online, read the owners manual, browsed a couple of forums to no avail.

Any ideas?

Unlikely, dry joints would make it stop and start outright, not slow down, though in a unit this old it's not a bad check to make. Hanging a multimeter off the DC supply to the motor and observing voltage as the unit is nudged around will help confirm or deny this.

>>933883
Sounds like it has a bung bearing on its capstan pulley (pic related). If the unit slows when moved it could be because it is binding on something. Pulley is a big spinning mass of metal...

So I became a nigger and bought a lockpick set and clear acylic padlock to practice.

Got my lock unlocked almost immediately--freaked me out at how easy it was.

Works best when I'm not thinking too hard about it and just jam it in like a cock.

Only one of the picks works any good for this particular lock.

Share your experiences.

Is this a skill that one can achieve with different levels of difficulties? I ask sincerely because im this close to purchasing a sewing machine because I dont know how clothes are made and it would be hard as fuck.
>>
>>933452
There's lots of different skill in lock picking. You'll have to get into a lock picking community soon to play with 'challenge locks' because the ones you can buy from the store or amazon are pretty shit unless you start shelling out like $50+ each, and you can only pick a lock a couple times before you know how, and you'll just nail it every time, which won't actually raise your skill for new locks anymore.

Also watch Bosnian Bill on youtube.
>>
>>933454
Ill check it out but I only work, have a bunch of money, and just need a hobby. Ill probably get a sewing machine this weekend at the second hand store then chuck it into the dumpster a few days later. Same will happen with my lock pick kit comes in next week
