71 KB,
Hey /diy/! So during the middle of the night i heard water running through the pipes of my house as if the sprinklers were on. But they were not. I noticed that the water heater was on constantly and this was at 4AM and the pipes were pretty hot and so was the floor next to the pipes... So i shut off the water to the house and checked on the water meter and saw that the water meter stopped so that definitely means that there is no leak correct? But why is my water heater still on!? The electronic unit on the heater is working fine as well with no indications stating otherwise.

Any...

Looks like you turned off the water. Turn it back on and check again. It sounds like a leak desu senpai, I'd turn on the hot water in your furthest sink and see if there's air in the lines ASAP. Also, if it is just hot water leaking, turn off the water at the water heater so you still have cold water in your house.
>>
>>961582
Also, your water heater should put out around 120F. You can just barely stand to keep your hand under this hot of water. If you turn it on and it's fucking hotter then The Games dick pics, turn off your water heater breaker now. Also, check your pressure relief valve.
>>

>Looks like you turned off the water.
oh shit. That just clicked everything together for me. Im gunna check right now.

As for the pressure, the bootleg plumber mentioned something that the heater is giving a little bit of pressure when it should have no pressure at all. does that mean anything?

Basically false. If it's your full time 40 hour a week trade them stay away but for something thou are going to use hobby level go for it.

Cheap and corded. Others may disagree, but you should like you will use it very sparingly.

If you find you love the shit, you can then upgrade to decent cordless drill set and whatever else you may want.
And even then youll have the corded stuff as backup if your batteries are all dead and you need to do something real quick.

If It were me I would go with this (49.99 for 15A made by BD is pretty good)

432 KB,
I need to use this mask as a prop for an upcoming indie film. I want to paint it a smooth, solid black, widen the holes into two slits and and use some nice ribbon to give a it a unique, high-class, but creepy venetian look. Most of the process will be extremely easy, and even if it's imperfect it should look fantastic on camera, especially in context.

The only problem is that this thing was way thinner than described, so it'll look like plastic even when painted and bends like cheap shit when you handle it on the sides. I know there are sturdier alternatives...

I have a clay mold of the inside here I could also glue there to make it seem thicker and eliminate the contour problems on the inside. That'd make the only hard part with the fabric getting in the depth of the nose (which can afford to be a little wrinkly if we just shoot around it).

I never used the water analogy either OP. The analogy I came up with is as follows, and has helped me:

Imagine current as a stream of people. How fast these people are walking is the current. Each of these people is also holding some tangible object, I like to imagine it as a box. This box is the voltage.

To take this a step further, consider a circuit in parallel. When the stream of people hit the branch that goes to parallel, the stream of people is split, yet they are all still holding the same box (voltage).

Imagine a circuit with resistors in series,...

Now let's shift out attention to a certain cross-section of the corridor and see what's happening there. At any given moment of time, there's going to be an amount of nigger passing through that particular cross-section of the corridor. A nigger is hungry - the hungrier he is, the faster he wants to get from the ghetto...

19 KB,
So I weld. I also have a ring on my finger. I once heard that wearing circular jewelry may act as a spool when you get electrified. When it does it burns your fingers of. Any of you guys know if this is true?

if you wear a ring you open yourself to many issues
if you ever rubbed wires together in school to make sparks you know that the wires stick to each other
if a wire brushes you you get a shock, if it touches your ring it may stick, even if it doesn't weld, more on that later.

during a shock the ring has good contact with the entire circumference of your finger and provides a much greater surface area for current to flow. your skin is the only real resistance you have, once the electric is inside you...

Sup /diy/,

I have a home gym, and I got these rubber bumpler plates from a commercial gym that was throwing them out. Theyre not in the best condition, because they're cracking on the edges. What are some ways to repair rubber? Duct tape didn't work and I read some glues won't work either. Is there any rubber glue that could work? Please help, my budget is $500, I got all the time in the world, and many tools available to me.

79 KB,
The spring is here, and I want to plant some vegetables to grow on my apartment's balcony. It's a rather tiny balcony - maybe 2x2 meters (7x7 feet roughly).

What could I grow on this balcony, and how should I organize everything to grow as many vegs as possible? Should I make a special shelf?

And what vegetables could grow well in Western Europe?

Potatoes, Yams, Beans, and Green Beans.

kek. thanks anon.

the answer is anything. except for what is considered, tropical fruit. for a balcony try climbers. since you dont even know what grows, try tomatos for your first go. probably cherry to make it worth your while. romas are cheap as shit, carrots are cheap. potatos cost 1$/kg here. sweet peas are also great home grown.

Fixing a cat is not at all a guarantee against spraying. I have several that still spray everything everywhere and they are all fixed. Thankfully, they are all outside cats.

Deterrents only work for a short time. Cats also tend to be spiteful. The more you try to deter them the more spiteful they can become to the point they are spraying simply to piss you off.

Yes, you can try that spray. White vinegar is used so it doesn't stain, fyi. So, be careful what you are spraying.

Ive never seen a cat do anything you said because of what you said.. And clearly your a shit cat owner so I understand your ignorance.

>>960946
They make a deodorizer spray. You can use it effectively. But your cat may be spraying cause some other shitstains cat outside your house is spraying outside and your cat smells it.. This is notable when your cat is spraying near windows and doors. If its random places like your bathroom/bed room. Its because she most likely needs her litter box cleaned more often shoot for two times a day once in the morning and once at night.

Hey /diy/, how do you clean a toilet out without accessibility to a plunger? I got no access to a plunger and I need to know the best possible method that you can use to clean out a clogged up toilet, since I have this one asshole who was stupid enough to clog it when he smokes in my bathroom and throws the cigs in the water after he wipes his ass.

My sewer vent and cleanout failed inspection. The notice just says "Raise vent & properly cap cleanout" with an extra page attached showing a diagram of how to attach extensions to broken pipes.

I would just do that and forget about it, but my vent and cleanout are both flush with a sidewalk.

Anyone deal with this before?

Here's the little buggers. From what I have found so far, they don't want rainwater going into the vent and putting strain on the sanitary sewer system. The cleanout in the diagram appears to need to be 3-4" above ground for whatever reason, but the cap itself also seems off. That bolt sticks up from sidewalk about an inch.

US. Thanks for responding!

That makes two of us. We usually have these on the roof, but this is ground level. I've seen some posts about people having these in their yard and later having sewer issues, no one mentions it poking through their side walk.

I'm hard up for ideas at this point.

Hello /diy/, I recently found an old MacBook Pro 17" from 2009 (I believe) that an old client of mine had destroyed by pouring coffee all over it, he practically blew the motherboard. I gave up trying to fix the mobo and decided to cannibalize the laptop for parts, most of which I have already utilized in other projects or am going too. I'm left with this here Li-ion polymer battery. I recently purchased a Raspberry Pi 2 and thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be cool if I could power my RPI 2 with this massive freaking battery? The life-span would be ridiculous."...

So obviously the voltage is too high correct? So I'd damage the Pi, so I have to put some stuff in the way to lower the voltage down to 5V. Now the 95 watt hours baffles me. I have found formulas that allow you to calculate amp hours from watt hours and watt hours into amps but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right... also MORE amps isn't bad correct? More amperage doesn't damage a device its the volts from my simple understanding.
>>
>>960013
Voltage is a fixed thing. Amperage is variable depending on how much power the device is taking.

Watts = Voltage × Amperage

With the Pi demanding 5V. I'd just buy a third market voltage regulating circuit for the 7.3V. Or, if it's going to be low power, diodes take 0.5V regularly. So you can add 4 diodes to the power and it'll work.

I personally think the charging of the battery is going to be the hardest. Li-ion cells can be a bitch, especially those witb proprietary connectors.
