I think that there is a far stronger argument that ABDL is correlated with a dysfunctional childhood. Perhaps not generally but I think that it applies to the point where it can become a red flag. I used to have bad binge-purge cycles until I accepted myself and started indulging in moderation. This fetish is a fetish so no one really has to know. I do understand the strong desire to confide with a trusted friend, partner, or family member. The need is strong for whatever reason. Perhaps it is for validation or because we see this fetish as something more than a fetish so we feel like it is an important part of ourselves that we feel this need to share. Far more so than one that may be into swinging or BDSM.
