Even if the characters don't diminish in quality they won't be nearly as effective as villains if they keep coming back. That would require them to keep getting defeated by not killed and after that happens one or two times they become lame and flaccid.
Making them do something quick and to the point then disposing of them is the best way to preserve their integrity anon. This would be different if they were just regular people but they're asshole strong bad guys and those just can't chill out in the context of the regular show.

And THEY ARE argument makes perfect sense. Ideally, every character should be good, regardless of whether they have longterm roles or short ones. The vamps were made to fulfill short term roles, and the writers succeeded in making them appealing during that time.

Honestly he has tons of options as he's still sort of a celebrity among normal village girls, maybe even most princesses.
I think part of it is that he doesn't actually want a girlfriend who just sees him as a celebrity, or to date just some random woman. He sort of tried that lifestyle in Breezy (which was a terrible episode but still affected his character) and he wasn't into it. Once he finds someone he actually feels a connection with he'll probably go for it, it's just a matter of waiting until that happens.
