from what I remember, it plays on every anime trope/cliche unironically.
Just about every reason for the the MCs winning is them yelling FRIENDSHIP, getting a power up or something along that line, along with Natsu just about constantly finishing off the villain of the arc.
The only moments in fairy tail i like are the Parallel world, Timeskip tournament and the Fairy tail tournament held by Laxus, but those aren't worth watching the entire series on toonami.
