If Captain Marvel does anywhere close to as well as the rest of the MCU, I guarantee we're gonna see more solo female hero films.

If characters themselves were what Marvel cared about we would have had Black Widow and Hawkeye movies in Phase 1.
It's about brand. Carol has had a distinct brand since the 70s, and is the standout of an even older, bigger brand on top of that. She has always been the obvious choice.
Besides, even if Wanda did have over 100 standalone stories under her belt, she's be redundant. Strange has that MCU niche filled.
