Having experience with cosmic shit doesn't mean you'd be a great leader. Thor Odinson has more experience than almost any other hero and he's not really field leader material. That's just not the type of character he is.
Same with Sam, Miles, and Kamala. Kamala could probably be groomed for that role but she isn't there yet.
The only ones with any actual field leader experience are Cho and Scott. Scott being a prodigy when it comes to combat tactics. Cho would make a good overall leader, but I don't think you want a Hulk being your field leader. Dude's one emotional breakdown away from being a liability.

They are technically the inheritors from classic's heroes legacy. Well, right before Secret Wars started, we had something like that too. The Avengers' kids from an alternative future destroyed by Ultron, the Next Avengers, traveled to the past and decided to stay there. So, I believe those guys could join these guys in a very interesting team. Think about it:

+ A Thor = Torunn (Daughter of Thor and Lady Sif)
+ A Wasp = Henry Pym Jr. (Son of Giant Man and Wasp)
