What does /co/ think of the original Space Ghost?
my mom would never let me stay up that late for a cartoon late night talk show. also being a kid I never wanted to actually watch the talk show potions just the funny bits with brack and zorak.
>>84541525
It's really odd watching it after watching Coast to Coast. Especially seeing Brak being any way intelligent.
>>84541525
Forever tainted in the mind of gen X and millennials by it's superior spoof.
>>84541596
the late night show had nothing to do with the original show...
>>84541525
I always liked Space Ghost, even before the dumb Coast to Coast show. It was always my favorite HB action show behind Johnny Quest.
>>84541596
You realize we're talking about the ORIGINAL Space Ghost cartoon from the sixties...NOT Coast to Coast??
>mfw watching those episodes of space ghost with a laugh track
>yfw Jan was the voice of "Princess Zandra"
OoooOoooooOooo-oo
Why did he go from a superhero saving the day to a superhero running a talk show?
Since this a Space Ghost thread. What's everyone's opinion on Future Quest? I really like it.
>>84542382
Still want that VHS cover as a poster.
>>84544862
It's a living...
Alex Toth could do more with one line than most artists could do with a 100
>>84544820
DC should have made Space Ghost canon to their universe decades ago
>>84545011
Brak with whiskers is weird.
>>84545154
>>84545132
I will never be able to take Brak seriously as a villain
Anyone else reading this comic with the Space Ghost Coast to Coast voices?
>>84545194
It helps if you can force yourself to read him as Keye Luke and not Andy Merrill.
>>84545259
I'm sure most of /co/ doesn't know what the originals sound like.I'm kinda 50/50.
god I love the original hanna-barbera cartoons
fuck anybody who doesn't think they're great
>>84545306
Original Zorak and C. Martin Croker's Zorak are pretty close.
>>84545423
Kids just can't handle the old school pacing.
>>84545433
C2C Moltar is the only version in my head.
>>84545472
Where'd you get this anyway? I went looking for the old Space Ghost comics a while ago and couldn't find jack shit, just the mini from like 2006...
>>84545423
Always loved Herculoids.
>>84545505
It's been sitting in my cbr folder since 2012.
Might have come from /rs/
>>84545514
Probably my single favorite HB action show.
I'm going to follow that ant home...

>>84541525
Like most of those late Hannah Barbera/Filmation super hero shows it was passable. Not deep or involved, but fine enough.
The robed villain is his evil twin Chad Ghostal, right
>>84545650Have you read it before?
I watched space ghost, the hurculoids and all those 60-70s toons when they were rerun endlessly in the 80s. I still love C2C era versions more though
>>84545715Chad is a character from C2C, didn't know he was "real"
>>84545791There's no goatee so it's probably another guy.
>>84545813
Any other Space Ghost comics? Or is this the only one?
>>84545813
>MY TIME IS NOW!
>>84545898
There's mini DC did a few years ago and Gold Key did some HB comics back in the 60s.
>>84545958
The mini tried too hard to subvert Space Ghost's Adult Swim comedy image by being grimdark as fuck, and didn't think that this would just make the comics even more laughable. The Zorak redesign is neat, though.
>>84546005
Say what you will about the mini, but it did make his name Tad canonically.
And Zorak was cool in it.
>>84546071
It lost me when ithad that human antagonist murder Space Ghost's pregnant wife and let Tad know that their child was a boy
I had to put the book down I was cracking up so bad
>>84541525
Jarring as shit when you grew up on Coast to Coast.
Friendly reminder that we almost got a modern Space Ghost cartoon that was supposed to do crossovers with other HB heroes like the Herculoids.
>>84545132
>>84546897
Whaaaat
Why not
>>84545110
Woah, I've been a SG fan since 98. I don't think I've have ever seen what Brak from behind looks like.
It was pretty boring. Same with Birdman. I would always rather watch superfriends, he man, transformers, gijoe , or thundercats.
>>84547640
I don't recall. All I know was that it was a project that Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti were working on it before Young Justice. Apparently, Sam Register told them they "couldn't sell it" and he put them to work on YJ instead.
>>84547743
God damn I hate WB's suits so much.
>>84541525
Always liked it as a kid, haven't seen them in a while but I'm a sucker for pulp sci-fi adventure so I'd imagine they still hold up for me.
Loved the DC mini he got years back, sucks they never did anything else with that.
>>84541596
>being this much of a stupid underage
>>84547163
Thank you for that image
>>84546901
Thank you for that story time. You should upload what you have.
YOU GUYS I HAVE A PLAN
okay okay get this
after we coat ourself in metal
we head to the beach
that way we can rust
and rust never rests
>>84541525
I'm a fan.
>>84548793
>falling for this bait
>>84541935
>>84541959
I think I'm the first person to have shared those, and I try to whenever I can.
>>84542382
That is so hilariously unconnected to the anime.
>>84545259
Nope; original voices only.
>>84545493
Why didn't they have weapons? Even stunners would have been useful, but oh no, all they are is hostage-bait. Good thinking, Thaddeus.
>>84541935
>>84541959
This SG seems a lot less buff.
>>84541525
Like most HB superhero cartoons, it was weird, logic-defying, and absolutely retarded. So I like it. The Dinoboy part of the show was pretty good.
>>84555333
>That's a great plan, Moltar. But if we could get to the beach, we wouldn't have to be metal-plated.
>>84546897
>almost
What? Issue 1 and 2 are already out. Haven't you read it yet?
>>84558789
>cartoon
>>84558803
Oh. Damn that's a shame, but I bet it would've been canceled after one or two seasons.
>>84558838
Seems like we're lucky to get that much for an action show now.
>>84544862
I assumed he became a talk show host after he retired.

It's an odd stylistic choice to make SG's cape diaphanous like a sheer nightie . Makes it look thin and gossamer like it could rip in a second
>>84558959
Well, it's ghostly and it's probably some special future material.

>>84562353
That's their business, Anon.
>>84559027
Meh.

>>84545423
Objectively true post.
>>84559054
>>84559068
Oh god, Zorak...
>>84545306
>>84545306
I prefer C2C's version of Metallus. The unintelligible buzzing just seemed like a cool concept for a villain, even if it was mostly used for humor.
>>84562353
>>84562353
Didn't the Cartoon Planet reboot have him say subtly suggestive things to Creature King over Xbox live.
Why didn't DC make any more dark and edgy Space Ghost comics?
I wanted to see grimdark Brak and Moltar.
>>84545449
I just wasnt a fan of the kid sidekicks.
>>84545259
Just Brak.
>>84571749
Oh lordy, the thought of hearing Brak acting so seriously, in Andy Merril's voice...
>>84571583
They were cute in the reboot comic
>>84573039
What did they do with Blip in that one?
>>84574866
If memory serves, Blip wasn't in it
>>84571351
>grimdark Brak
"I was a good boy. Polite and sweet like momma raised me. Then one day things took a dark turn. Ol brak's parents were shot and stabbed before his very eyes, leading to the start of his descent into darkness"
"Honey what are you talking about up there?"
"SHUT UP MOM! I'M TRYING TO SOUND COOL FOR MY COOL NEW FRIENDS!"
>>84571749
yeah buddy
>>84574866
Killed and eaten. Not necessarily in that order.
Really really hope with DC doing a new HB line they give Ghost his own series, preferably with a more serious tone and visual style like the prior mini had.
>Reis or Fabok on art...
Plea god.
>>84575719
What about Moltar?
>>84545259
I'm imagining normal, gruff voices. It's nice to be able to detract one continuity from another.
>>84571583
I was pretty much in love with Jan.
>>84547695
Superfriends? Seriously?
Original Space Ghost and Birdman had fighting, action, explosions, and the occasional implied off-screen death. Superfriends was the exact opposite of that. Superfriends was dullsville, man.
It does have an awesome orchestral theme though.

>>84576330
DC should add him to their main universe to help expand their cosmic line
Just picked up the first two issues of this yesterday, speaking of Space Ghost.
And Hanna Barbera in general.
Pretty good so far in my opinion.
>>84575846
Oh, so it's one of THOSE reboots. That's a shame.
I love Space Ghost to death. It's so weird though that after years of Coast to Coast I have trouble separating the two in my head. It used to be Coast to Coast was a spoof of og Space Ghost in my head but now whenever I think of Space Ghost its always CtC Space Ghost followed by (oh yeah he had his original show back in 66, thats right.)
>>84578575
Fuck. That looks balls to the wall awesome.
>>84578904
It took all that made the Hanna Barbera Cartoons cool and awesome and escalated it.
>>84578904
Damn skippy.
I want tocuddle thatJan andbrush her hair.

>moltar walks in wearing meatwad's face
