They were probably worried about having to start over AGAIN after the Nolan movies finished and GL bombed and MoS was a piece of shit so they prayed Snyder would fail upwardly which he predictably did not. Just pure stubbornness and movie exec logic but the fear was probably that they were gonna miss out on the capeshit craze and Marvel would dominate for a decade unchecked if they had to return to the drawing board. they went in a very different approach. The MCU first introdcued the characters like Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Cap etc. and they were building hype but they gotta make sure every movie they will make about these characters are a simple introductions or even give the non comic book readers some background to them then after the separate movies, they have enough hype that the Avengers went well. However WB just rushed it, straight into the trinity. I know that the trinity are more famous and iconic than Iron Man and Thor that even non comic book readers know them very well but shit, Man of Steel didn't give a positive vibe but they still rushed with the BvS shit.

Well let's see. In the past 40 years they've fucked up two Wonder Woman tv pilots (one of them didn't even get broadcast, the other got recast and retooled into the 70s series), retooled the 70s series 3 times in 3 seasons across two separate networks before it was cancelled for being bad, failed to make at least one Wonder Woman movie, fucked up at least three of seven movies featuring Superman, fucked up arguably half of all Batman movies, more depending on what degree of batfaggotry you've succumbed to, failed to make at least one Batman/Superman movie, oh, and they made and release Catwoman.
They also made and released Green Lantern, Jonah Hex, Supergirl, Steel, V for Vendetta, Watchmen, 300, Witchblade (as a tv pilot), Constantine, and The Losers.
And if you want to get technical, Son of the Mask, Blade 3, Spawn and anything else made at New Line prior to the merger with WB a decade ago is also now their fault, including all those TMNT movies.
Sure, they also made The Road to Perdition and some Batman movies people liked, but that's still not a great batting average.
