Maybe it's just because the cartoon and MVC combined to cement them in my head but I agree, I liked that iteration of costumes, mostly because they're just so distinct and memorable.
I think the push for more muted colors and tacticool stuff isn't nearly as fun.

90s was definitely the peak of good costumes. 70s started the cool look, 80s and 90s refined them. anything since looks terrible, anything prior usually looks a bit silly (though batman and superman are fine. if it starts in the 30s it's okay, but 40s-60s is pretty stupid most of the time)

You know who has a great costume, Hawkman.
it has nice colour. A strong silhouette. The helmet changes design occasionally, but the costume has remained pretty consistent for its' lifetime. The biggest change to it was losing the briefs, but it didn't need them as strongly for the visual break like certain other costumes
This is the best Superboy costume and the best Superman costume. It's undebatable with me.

Kids today look EXACTLY like that. Shaved sides of the head and leather. DC was embarassed of this costume and put him in jeans and a t-shirt and now fashion rolled back around to his old costume being SUPER in-style.
