Something about Vader being in a room that the main characters were just in and being shown in an obscure way (especially after knowing what he's capable of in Lords of the Sith) gives me the chills. It makes me think of something they would do in a Silent Hill game where you go to a room you were just in and there's blood on the floor all of a sudden telling you that some monster is following you.

The last half of the movie could be a dance sequence set to Taylor Swift and they'd still insist it's better.
TFA rustled a lot of jimmies.
Realistically, it has a chance to be great or just forgettable.
It doesn't have the hype of restarting Star Wars, so it can handle mediocrity without it being a disaster.
It has a major chance to be totally average. It seems to follow the "pattern" pretty hard. The plucky gang of witty people go from big set piece to big set piece.
But Edwards does like to mix things up. Monsters had a real interesting ending and that's why got Hollywood to pay attention.

The way the prequels used warfare reminded me of the Napoleonic wars. Especially that bit in RotS where the Venator and the Invisible Hand are firing at each other like ships with canons and how the clones and Droids fight in waves. It makes sense that the next evolution of Warfare would be WW1 style warfare

That's missing the point.
The problem isn't that the prequel stuff was slick and smooth but rather it looked more advanced.
No one would say the left car is more advanced than the right.
Definitely slicker and better looking, but not more advanced.
The prequels could have been fine with sleek tech.
But it should have looked older, exactly like your example.
The right car is newer but uglier. Like the Falcon.
But the left car is older but prettier, like how the Republic ships should have been.

Just cause they used Mauser in the first war doesn't mean they stopped using it in the second. For example the MG34 wasn't even invented in time for WW1.

Not saying that there were no WW2 weapons in Star Wars.
Just that WW1 was obviously the primary style.
