Sometimes I think the people pining for Diana and Steve to be a couple have never actually read the classic stories in which they were a couple. I have recently, and Steve was a pretty terrible guy when they were together back then, treating Diana Prince like garbage, pressuring Wonder Woman endlessly about getting married, doing the whole "well if you really cared about me then you'd forget all this 'saving the world' stuff and make me a sandwich, or else I'll find someone who will" hard sell to make her feel awful for not letting him have his way.
