HAIL SCANBRO blessed among leakers
>>
>>84428888

>>84428921
NO
>>
>>84428888
>Renew your vows
>By Conway

I'm excited to get a genuinely good Spider-book besides Silk.
>>
>>84428900
Actually scratch that, I'm impressed that out of ALL the books for marvel to relaunch, they didn't relaunch Squirrel Girl, Moon girl, or Hellcat
I thought those would be the ones for sure to get one, but nope, SQ has the third highest number of issues now.
>>
>>84428863
Hello Storyteller.

>Tora and Beatriz
[YURI INTENSIFIES]

Speaking of lesbians, WW looks nice. Diana may or may not have a girlfriend. But then, Amazons are always touchy-feely with each other.
>>
>>84428929
>Maybe we'll get some Bucky abuse out of it?

that cover does give me some hope there
>>
>>84428921
that doesn't happen for like 20 more years
>>
>>84428929
So what's the difference in tone and style between Solo and Foolkiller, can anyone explain me that?

Also, OCCUPY AVENGERS is a minimum of 3-4 years out of date, right
>>
>>84428921
That's decades later, Anon.
>>
>>84428960
Twitter is plenty mad there's no Miss America book and indeed, there's like zero gay to be seen outside of her on Ults2.

I can't believe they're wasting Checchetto on the Gamora book, unless that surpasses the blandness of almost everything Guardians and gets us back to some space barbarian stylings.
>>
>>84428905
>>84428929
>tfw Karla will never bully Bucky
It's not fair, dammit. That little fuccboi is made to be stepped on by a conniving dominatrix.

there is an agenda against beefcake
>>
>>84428888
>So, ummm, how about those Marvel leaks?
#clintlivesmatter!

Richard Rider Helmet teaser!

Jubilee, further cursed to endure Kate Leth.
>>
>>84429022
Huh, they're still 'oreos' here, when did they up and have to change it to 'chocos'?

>>84429049
Vigilante is a very Vertigo-looking book and the writer seems to have srs bzns crime/mystery chops

>>84429065
WHERE IS SOLID FRANK REDUX, GODDAMMIT
>>
>>84429036
We continue to live in the worst world...
>>
>>84428905
Zub's writing is still just kinda there, and would probably just be mediocre if not for the "God no, blind me please!" art.
>>
>>84429087
Glad wolfman run is getting a digital released. Please arrow do something positive, and make DC to released a trade.
>>
>>84428888
Broadly, I guess, I'm more impressed by the artists than the writers? I like the new Avengers line-up and getting Del Mundo on that is great - but Waid, and Waid on both this and the competing teen Champions book too, I'm not so keen on. Elsa Charretier could rightly be called a successor to Bruce Timm and Darwyn Cooke and I think her Wasp will look great - but the writer being the Princeless guy makes me think it's going to be a less adult book than I'd enjoy. Chechetto on Gamora? Great. Gamora, Zdarsky's Star-Lord and the Guardians on earth? Pls no.

I do like that the niche-and-doomed books they're throwing in this time seem to have a rough, street level feel in line with like the Netflix TV stuff. I will give Foolkiller, Prowler, Solo and Slapstick all at least a first issue read. I'm disappointed Ewing isn't on anything more.
>>
>>84429022
So is his last name "Rider" or "Ryder"? It's been inconsistent for the last few issues.

thanks Bendys for making me sensitive to this
>>
>>84429086
>Richard Rider Helmet teaser!
Dare we believe?
>>
>>84428940
They learned a harsh lesson about relaunching a book with the same team last year.
>>
>>84428940
What's weird is that the sales for the trades are particularly impressive either like they probably hoped they'd be, like they were with USQ
>Patsy Walker Aka Hellcat Vol. 1 Hooked On Feline Marvel 1,901
>Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Vol. 1 BFF Marvel 1,782

but you know what DID do good in trades?

Vision Vol. 1 Little Worse Than Man Marvel 3,566

thank you batman
>>
>>84429087
HI NATE

>>84428921

>>
>>84429136
>>84429141
yall ready for Bendis Nova?
>>
>>84429136
It was originally Rider, but then Bendis wrote Ryder one time, and people got mad. And since Brevoort and Marvel as a whole love making their hardcore fans mad, they continued to do so.
>>
>>84429147
*aren't particularly impressive

Also all those trades were 17.99 which is just wtf
>>
>>84429141
Brevoort must be seething.
>>
>>84429022
Y'know, I wonder just how far one can trace the fear-mongering sensationalist "journalist" back through history. Like, did the Romans and Ancient Chinese have this shit, or did it take until the Saxons built their empire for this archetype to form?

>>84429087
J'onn, pls.
>>
>>84429130
That Wasp book looks 100% in the CUTE! category, which is...okay, fine, it deserves entries, but as a fan of adult women, I'm feeling a little underserved.

>>84429147
NICE
>>
>>84429036
Bucky, like Guy, is a born sub.
>>
>>84428960
The Canary jumpsuit is still sexy, it's a shame it was created for Dinah and not someone with an older, better costume.

>Also, OCCUPY AVENGERS is a minimum of 3-4 years out of date, right

Oh yeah, they may as well have called it Hawkeye and the Blowfish.
Still, Clint doesn't die! Small victory!
>>
>>84429169
I'm talking about Jack here. It's spelled two different ways in the first three panels!
>>
>>84429209
so get used to this Nate not really being the one we know and love in all his hippie glory
>>
>>84429209
There's Gamora and Jessica Jones. If you don't like those, well...
>>
>>84429147
>Vision's trade did well
>latest issue of Vision went up 3k from the previous

Omega Men is gonna have a good selling trade, r-right?
>>
>>84429036
>You will never be stepped on by Moonstone
THE WORST WORLD
>>
>>84429242
Jessica Jones is Bendis. I don't care that he created the character one damn bit, it's going to be a heap of crap.
>>
>>84429036
What's Karla got that the Soviets or Zemo haven't pulled on him already?
He's not like her usual paramours, unless we're counting Clint, but I don't since she was too busy falling in love with him to get any manipulation done.
>>
>>84429242
And there's still Widow and I guess Spider-Woman. Still, still...

Oh, I've seen so much shade at Bendis for the JJ book even though of course he created her. warms my cold dead heart.

>>84429253
Haha, no.
>>
>>84429209

>>
>>84429277
Rucka power. I read his wife's Valiant stuff yesterday afternoon, the Death-Defying Doctor Mirage? The second story arc was weaker but the first story was actually really good, I enjoyed it a lot.
>>
>>84429277
I seriously hope that Wonder Woman will have at least 40k+ sales.
>>
>>84429292
I still can't believe the Finches lasted for that long.
>>

I WANT TO BELIEVE!
>>
>>84429269
.... Am I an asshole for thinking Oberon's overalls make him look like an older Mario?
>>
>>84429302
I will despair but also lol if Ewing has been subbed down to less books/less important books because Bendis has seen the comparisons.
>>
>>84429130
I would be hype for Champions if it wasn't by Waid.
>>
>>84429277
it's amazing what happens when you go from a sputtering trashfire to a very well-planned and reason to be hype run, isn't it

Spider-Gwen crossing over with Miles is trying to goose sales on both, isn't it
>>
>>84429357
I'm still hoping that if Grounded is Bendis' last GotG arc that Ewings getting it after
>>
>>84429365
That's sort of where I am, but the book does feel like kind of indefinite territory right now. And no Robbie, boo.
>>
>>84429277
>FLINTSTONES #1, 10%. Now, that is heartbreaking. I know NO ONE was clamoring for a Flintstones book, but... it was really good!

i want to die
>>
>>84429335
This page makes me curious, when did Wally get public relations with Castro, like that one page in Captain Atom implied?
>>
>>84429204
>Y'know, I wonder just how far one can trace the fear-mongering sensationalist "journalist" back through history. Like, did the Romans and Ancient Chinese have this shit

Dude. Carthago Delenda Est. Rome loved propaganda, fearmongering, and rumour mills.
>>
>>84429394
Flintstones got a lot of bad critical press because I don't know, people are fucking retarded. It's like slating Omega Men, that is literally the most recent DC book I would compare the Flintstones too. It's going to bomb and get cancelled and the world is a cunt.
>>
>>84429394
I hope that manages to sell some back issues on the strength of word of mouth and reviews. Because seriously, if you'd told me "buy THE FLINTSTONES it's both deep and funny" I would have laughed at you, a month ago.

>>
>no Ghost Riders
>no Marvel UK
What a trash relaunch
>>
>>84429372
I'm not the only one who doesn't find this shit with Guy here funny, right? Yeah, it's Guy acting like a total goody two shoes, but they really should take him to a hospital.

>>84429335
>And if you don't like one story you've got the other one to look forward to each month
The second book looks like it'll be nice. Any time the relationship between Diana and Polly gets some play, I'm all for it.
>>
>>84429454
Marvel UK coming back would be a beautiful thing but also lol that's never happening.
>>
>>84429242
What if you've never liked Jessica Jones, though?
>>
>>84429435
I saw a smart observation that "Green Arrow is probably selling to people who used to like the show and are mad at where it's gone lately"

that's a potential market, for sure

>>
>>84429529
having the artist co-writing is an interesting sign, and IDK, it just pings my "this could be something" meter at lot harder than most of the listings.

>>
>>84429450
I'd say it's time for Bendis to be promoted into irrelevance, except he obviously has no skills that would let him succeed as an editor or at any higher level.
>>
The leterred previews of Wonder Woman #2 and Nightwing Rebirth #1 (though the OP of the latter forgot to label that for some stupid reason) are out. Why lettered label? For desuarchive search users.
>>
>>84429680
You know, we can at least say that there's a wide range of tones in the lineup put forth. The writers are overwhelmingly from the stable, but there's some go at "something for everyone", I think.

....dat ass
>>
>>84429644
>sexist
I dunno, Ted. Micheal is from the 25th century after all. Probably everyone is a horndog at that point. Things mellowed out considerably by the 31st, of course.

Lemire Thanos no idea.
>>
>>84429699
Oh god, I'm now imagining Bendis as an editor, and he'd have the pull to get a Kitty Pryde solo series.
>>

I have to admit I've never really grokked Starlin Cosmic, but you know it's going to be the fuel for shitposting for how fucking long

>>84429725
>Things mellowed out considerably by the 31st, of course.

Not according to Shooter's Sex Files.
>>
>>84429699
Somehow he still sells and marvel doesn't have any writers to shove into the spotlight in his place
Waid and Lemire are probably the next biggest writers and they already have too many books, and said books don't really sell on their name alone.

I mean DC can apprently just shove a writer on Batman and they'll get big enough, but Slott has a stranglehold on ASM
>>
>>84429726

and somehow the Phoenix Force is involved?

Deodato tho keeping me FAR away

>>84429724

There were a few new names, or I didn't know them. Bullseye and Kingpin just seem random. Like the Daredevil show isn't that big, and Bullseye hasn't shown!

ugh i don't wanna deal with everyone mad at Defenders not being strange/namor/hulk

I've actually been considering doing Mar-Vell and Adam Warlock storytimes in a few months.

People should be more mad about the lack of Valkyrie, Nighthawk, and Gargoyle.
Welp. At least Cage and Hellcat were actually Defenders.
>>

>>
>>84429844
Iceman gay would be so okay with me, but Bendis half-assed everything about it, I would've preferred if he just said he was gay with zero explanation.

>>84429835
Marvel's not actually going to be killing off mutants wholesale, but they sure are trying to grease the wheel on fan rage in making X-Men fans think they will/are.

Doesn't seem to be working out. Inhumans sales aren't great, X-Men sales could be better, and I don't think the big Inhumans Vs. X-Men (Vs. Avengers) event we're obviously on our way to will actually help individual books that much once the event is done.

Fan rage can only do so much, and it only really works on a couple of books. You can get Spidey fans to buy up on the double if you piss 'em off.
>>
>>84429835
>That entire bottom panel

It's so fucking perfect, the only thing that makes me laugh harder is "Who's on First?" or some old Silent movie bits.
>>
>>84429836

>>
>>84429958

I can only dread his shitposting when we leave the 80's.
>>
Also, that Miles/Gwen cover - did anybody in Marvel editorial think to double check on Gwen's age compared to Miles?

This is sort of like when they did their beefcake covers and handed Miles to one of their few beefcake artists. Of course he didn't turn in beefcake on an underage teen, but the fact that Marvel included him at all = ???? What's going on over there?
>>
>>84429958

Giffen & Demetteis have solid vaudeville rhythm.

They'd probably be a good fit for an Archie reboot screwball comedy book.

is Miles still 15 or what?

>>84430015

>>
>>84430015
The other day an Avengers editor was asking for recs of black women and other folks out of the industry "norm" who write comics.

The fact that she had to ask to begin with... do they have any sort of staff dedicated solely to talent scouting, recruiting? And how far out do they look?
>>
>>84430009
I don't think they really care that much because LMAO IT'S SPIDER MAN AND GWEN EXCEPT NOT
>>
>>84430009

They weren't actually supposed to be beefcake covers so it's fine. They were just covers dedicated to celebrating the mighty Marvel men because they are so underappreciated otherwise of course!

>>84430015

I appreciate Nighthawk for being "What if Batman was a total fucking loser".
He's comic relief.

But your right, he's pretty inessential, despite his Defenders mainstay status.

But telling people what kind of characters they are and aren't allowed to write, or imply that they cannot competently write them because they don't look like them? Dogshit. A person should be allowed any kind of character they want and expect be judged based on the quality of their writing.

it really IS weird that there's no queer solo at Marvel given that there is a demo repeatedly asking for one, and there are characters, and DC is pretty cognizant of that demo. and acknowledging that doesn't mean you have to let the fandom dictate what you write. As said before, I liked one anon's ideas about a Miss America book that would probably discomfit a lot of Twitter because it'd be more ambivalent than just "she punches bad guys and kisses Kate Bishop"
>>

>probably discomfit a lot of Twitter because it'd be more ambivalent than just "she punches bad guys and kisses Kate Bishop"
I think I understand that attitude, though I strongly disagree with it.

See, because there are so few LGBT characters, when something negative happens to one, it can seem like it's an attack on that character for their orientation(or what have you). But their attempts at championing said characters backfire because they forget the cardinal rule of storytelling; Conflict. Shit's gotta happen if you want a story, and shit can only be compelling when your characters act like people, meaning flaws, and occasionally fucking up. If you want the masses to be more excepting of LGBT persons, make them see their struggles and how they can have compelling stories as well, instead of shallow power fantasies.

I get where they're coming from, but it's ultimately detrimental to the cause.

I think a lot of people mistake the volume of criticism for having any actual meaningful effect. Like, people have been crowing about "Black Widow movie seriously this isn't hard" for how long, how loud...?
>>

It's a lot easier when they aren't the one gay character in the line, in the book, or any of that.

Problem is, their role often IS to be the gay one, the queer one, who somehow doesn't have any queer friends of their own. At most they get a relationship, but they mostly only know straight people in their professional and personal lives, which doesn't match up with so much of the queer experience, especially now in 2016.

This is a part of a problem as existing only in team books or supporting cast. If you aren't the lead character, you don't get fleshed out too much, especially nowadays. They could do better by including more gay characters, queer characters... but again, they're not gonna do that.

Conflict's fine, but they don't even think to flesh out their queer supporting casts and team characters. And I don't think Marvel writers are hesitant on the conflict angle when they rush boneheadedly into any decision, intentionally or not. They talk about being scared of fucking up, but they write very cavalierly despite all this.

A queer book with a majority queer cast could solve a lot of storytelling and hesitation problems. It'd also probably tank in sales, because none of them are big enough to sustain their own book among the usual buyers.

Honestly, though, that Marvel hasn't charged into a Freedom Ring level fuckup, especially after Alonso's constant fuckhead comments about queer characters in interviews, is surprising.
>>
>>84430797
Whenever i see the former I always have the urge to respond with "okay, Cap/Zemo it is"
>>
>>84430729
Yeah, because when your main motives to do a story is "continuity is hard" and "this is hip, and relevant to today" you set yourself up for failure because hip and modern changes over time, and so long as you keep writing the same story, the continuity starts to build up.

Ultimate Spider-Man stopped being more new reader friendly than the old one once it was around for more than a couple years.

>>84430470

I think of Bunker in particular, whose friendships are all straight, straight, straight, straight, straight, his boyfriend who he barely got to do anything with, straight, now aggressively straight Robin, straight straigh straight straight. They should let him date Beast Boy at least, for god's sake. Something!

Northstar, who when he finally got into a relationship, married the first dude we ever saw him actually dating. Also doesn't seem to have any gay friends of his own, doesn't particularly talk to other gay X-Men - and this is if he shows up at all nowadays.

Bobby's similarly isolated, so's MAC.

Midnighter got to be about a gay character and gay friendships and gay relationships, filled with gay characters everywhere, so it could do all the goddamn conflict and violence it wanted. He wasn't a damn token in his own book.
