So despite how good this is, it's never going to make it past 12 issues is it?
>>
>ranked #40 on the CMX bestseller list (versus Future Quest 2 ranked #22)
>middling reviews
>probably lower initial physical orders than Scooby Apocalypse or Future Quest #1

Fucking hell.

Russell and Pugh are too pure for this gay earth.
>>
You can't know that. The regular Scooby Doo (not the current Apocalypse storyline) usually sell between 6-7000. But wasn't cancelled.
>>
>it's good

Wait, what? Can someone give me a low-down how this managed to be an actual, decent comic?
>>
>>84407727
i say it's that weird balance Life with Archie had; doing a real storyline while embracing the ridiculous shit that comes with the setting.
>>
>>84407727
It's really good though. For this reason better not be biased against a book, before you read it.
>>
>>84407342
It's gotten pretty high reviews as far as I've seen.

Though to be fair, comic book websites hardly have the best standards of review.

>>84407727
Read it yourself.
It takes the "Flintstones" setting and concepts and gives them more modern twists and themes. For example, when Wilma decides to take up painting, her artwork is featured in a local art gallery's exhibition where it becomes the victim of hipster critique; said hipsters vape from actual tree sticks.
Another twist is the Royal Order of the Water Buffalo being changed from a parody of veteran's associations and elder's lodges to being an actual war veteran's support group, helping each other cope with the atrocities they witnessed and committed.
>>
>>84407727
It's a vicious satire of modern America and manages to balance pathos with hilarious black humor.
>>
>>84407727
It's satire.
>>
It's only major flaw is that they gave us a better concept for a story than what we got but we will probably never see it. Fucking Fred and Barny fighting in a war would be great to see
>>
>>84407179

FLEENTSTONES?????
>>
Seeing as how Russel is writing it probably wont make it past six issues.

-snif- I miss Prez

Top three episode, if not number one.

Anyone feel like storytiming this? I don't have the pages, I just hope some kind-hearted Anon would.
>>
>>84407179
I saw people saying how it was dumb that it was modernized, but that's the fucking point. flintstones are a MODERN stone age family. so they would basically be our current society but with more rock puns
>>
>>84407179
>it's never going to make it past 12 issues is it?

DC doesn't hold none DC Universe books to the same sales standards. It could go on for years even selling at 7k

So did I. People are fucking retarded I swear

I could see it more juxtaposition between what was and what it's percived to be.

Betting a "Back then they had a much closer tie to their natural element, see these animals they lived in communion with." Bit comes up with cuts to Fred and family using the utility animals.

My guess is a lack of intervention from suits. Like they said, "Give us a Flintstones book for adults, no tits" and didn't give a shit about the content so they had free reign to make it good.

Jetsons need to capitalize on the satire that existed in the show that never really got play beyond it. George works short weeks and all he does is press a button.

Plenty of play to be done with that. Computer is his overseer and he's got the education that he could reprogram that bucket of bolts in a second. And all he does is press a button.

Maybe have it go Breaking Bad over that unfilled purpose.

Because people see a silly premise and don't care, they are judgemental without reading.

Also, less popular means more freedom.

And HB titles are already very free to tell good stories, they literally want to revive the franchines. There has been a talking about a cartoon cinematic universe on the style of Future Quest.

I was excited for it until they made Shaggy a literal hipster with ear plugs, a hipster beard, and a curly mustache with arm tattoos.

Because big business is about low risk, high reward.

Remember how the Silent Hill movies went? They made one very good movie, but their executive meddling changed it to be as appealing to as many people as possible with arbitrary shit like "people will relate more to a mother trying to save her daughter than a father trying to save his daughter, make the protag a woman".

Then for the sequel they spent the minimum amount of money possible, virtually all the effects were just for the trailer. When you remove the trailer scenes its just a rehash of one of the teenage girl "you are the special chosen one who has a cute boy sidekick" movies like Twilight and Hunger Games. Also, it was marketed as being a 3D movie in a big way.
They spent almost nothing, and made huge bank by killing the franchise intentionally coasting off the goodwill from the first movie.

That right there tells you exactly why mainstream media is trapped in a cycle of shit. Because you only make something good in order to have to spend less while still getting people coming back. You only invest when people stop showing up.
Batman #1 has to be flashy and show promise. By #12, it gets pretty shit so they have a Jim Lee alternate cover. Then by issue #16, you have a massive THEDCUNIVERSEWILLNEVERBETHESAME event book that sells all of the main titles. Finally by issue #24, they just reboot back to another shiny and new #1 that promises an interesting story arc it will never deliver.

Its because they don't form opinions. They receive them.
There have been bad "modernized" series and they've heard that from critics many times, so now they just parrot "Modernized reboots are bad!"
Its up there with "Deviation from mass-market schlock is pretentious!" and "Dark and edgy = bad" in the pantheon of stupid shit people who can't come up with their own opinions parrot.
>>
>>84411031

They deserve even LESS than nothing. They've got the rights to the motherfucking Fantastic Four and they are incapable of making even a halfway decent movie out of it. All those years of stories, all those ideas, and they can't even match what PIXAR did with the Incredibles. It's a goddamned travesty.

I like it! Doesn't try to be something it's not, has some really sweet serious moments without coming off as preachy. Overall, I'd recommend it to people who like slice of life-ey kind of comics.

Hopefully if this sells well, it'll encourage some of the bigger companies to just tell more self contained good stories that aren't just capes. In general, I feel like a lot of super hero comics fall into a trap of getting WAY too convoluted and frequently lose sight of what they are. I should go out and buy an issue to support it.

Because the suits all obsessed with fucking origin stories so that they can have a new audience not feel "left out". The problem is that the content is shit that fucking everybody already knows and does not need a goddamn origin story. Who the fuck doesn't know the basic shtick of the fantastic four? Who the fuck are you having to explain the what and why of how they got their powers? So they make the goddamn origin story that is boring as sin then when it fails they drop it and then reboot it doing the exact same shit in a couple years but changing some small element to try and seem new and fresh.
And this is shit that applies to all media it seems like.

That was the director's decision and he's a dirty Frenchie with a fetish for American women who thought Harry Mason was feminine for caring about his daughter.

Fucking horrible. Preachy as shit, heavy handed, has zero charm of the original and substitutes it with some mean-spirited deconstruction of the tropes. Not to mention that the attempts at humour are mostly downright pathetic. I had low expectations about this, but it's just awful. I mean bloody hell, there's bad and there's this.
