There are quite a few good 90's comics, it's just that everyone chooses to only discuss the inherently bad aspects of the era. Probably because it's far more entertaining to rip apart utter schlock than to praise something else that's of sound quality.
Prime is probably the biggest "fuck you" to the industry of that period. It's about a genetic freak of a preteen body who can create cocoon like shells for himself based on what he percieves to be "an emboldened hero" (ie a muscle bound beefcake with more brawn than brains). But his powers come at a cost due to being completely ego and self confidence based, if he suddens feels "down on his luck", his shell deteriotes and he could possibly sufficate if not helped immediately

I knew a few factoids about Bloodwynd, but only a few, so I just went to look up the character bio. Shit is Xorn level nuts.
Bloodwynd is a guy with a magic gem (that red crystal on his chest). Only the magic gem has a demon imprisoned inside he didn't know about. The demon sucked Bloodwynd inside as well and then brainwashed Martian Manhunter into thinking he was Bloodwynd. Wearing the gem and using the Bloodwynd identity Martian Manhunter rejoined the JLA, as part of the demon's plan to try and find a power source strong enough to free him from the gem. Eventually the rest of the JLA catch wise, free J'onn from the brainwashing, free the actual Bloodwynd to carry on the character, and defeat the demon.
