I like the idea of the soles only, because in the midst of an acrobatic movement, it would help convey the idea of motion at the tip of the black legs. Like a cheetah's tail or a magician's wand. Leaving a trail behind each arc-motion in a dark environment. Almost hypnotic-like.
I think that if properly written, Spider-Gwen has the potential to be a really iconic character, I think, especially with her design and history. The suit is almost as good as Spidey, while simultaneously trying to be different AND paying homage to it. Too bad it's being written by current Marvel and it's mostly a teen drama.

I'm really glad I'm not the only one who hates these type of designs. It's so terrible and awkward-looking. It's really no coincidence that the designers have no problem putting guys in fullbody suits/masks, but when it comes to chicks, they just HAVE to show off their hair or their face, even though you can already tell it's a woman because of the body type.

Her power creates a star. A very SMALL star, but still. A ball of stellar plasma anywhere from a few inches in diameter to as wide as a street. Yes, it's just as badass as you think.

Spider-Gwen is interesting to me because she represents a couple of trends currently popular at Marvel. She is an empowered cast member, something that's been going on for decades but only really picked up steam in the late 90s. Many many classic supporting cast characters have gotten powers and costumed identities of their own in order to throw them out into super-brawls.
Second she is an alt universe version of a character brought in. I suspect the reason for this with SG is not really the same as with Miles. The real reason is that 616 Gwen is so badly fucked up by stuff like Sins Past that they could never bring her back, slap some powers on her and make her a popular character. People would always bring up THAT TIME SHE FUCKED GREEN GOBLIN much like the Pym slap and Carol being raped. Making her an AU version puts her in the same position as the Bendis All-New X-Men series where you can just drag in AU versions of the classics and do what you want with them.
And before you start, despite what Bendis says the O5 in All-new were nothing like the originals, so for all intents and purposes they are alternate versions.

Worm is really strange stuff. Yes, it's capeshit, but it's NEW capeshit. There's no hundred years of backstory and crap that the author has to drag along behind him.
So, he writes a totally NEW version of capeshit. For example, most of the people in Worm have super powers that seem kind of terrible. Bad disadvantages, weak, etc. But on closer examination, the powers are devastatingly powerful.
The main Wormy is this chick named Skitter, who controls bugs. Seems pretty crappy, right?
Oh, it's not. Skitter is horrifyingly powerful.
Plus, the guy writing Worm has his own universe to work with, and he's not afraid to break things. One of the many bad guys is a group called the Endbringers, and they are working to do exactly that, and they're WINNING.
Good stuff, if only for the different perspective. It sure isn't the current wall of shit coming out of Marvel.

I love that the hoodie functions as a sort of hair piece for her. It gives a nice looking silhouette. that helps it stand out from your typical Spidey suit.
But I absolutely hate how it looks when it's not over her head. When there's some action poses and the hood is it's hanging off to the side or flapping behind her like a cape, the whole suit ends up looking awful.
