Hey.
Yesterday, I storytimed bunch of silver-age X-Men, but then I felt asleep.
So now I continue.

I am now in the Roy Thomas/Neal Adams part
so it looks amazing

I think all the mutants (or almost all) that have been in the book so far are in this story

Nothing suspicious about this guy at all

I love how everyone keeps thinking Lorna belongs to Bobby even when they almost never speak to each other.
Also it's now canon he is secretly gay the whole time. So, yeah.

I'm just perpetually baffled that Angel's suspender-costume was allowed to exist as long as it did. Both its design and color scheme are... its an example of how not to do superhero costumes in every possible way.
>>84372278
There is one page missing in all the scans I could find. (Since they are probably from the same source.)
So I only have it from the digital copy. I am not sure why the colors are just infinitely shittier. But they just are.

He has a different costume here!
...not sure if it's better.
>>84372370
>>84372380
Ha, I found a source of better scans.
Too late to change the ones I already posted, but I will at least post the next one
It's cover to cover, but I will skip the ads, since they are annoying after a while

Its still a bad design but its a tad less bad than the previous monstrosity.
I don't even remember this costume and I assume it didn't last too long. It has some of the same bad choices made, its busy for no good reason, its lines make no sense as a whole, and the colors slapped on top of that design only serve to draw your eyes to the bad choices (and seriously, a generally dark costume with a bright-yellow crotch??)
I'll give it this, you do see in it the start of some design elements that eventually find their way to what is, IMO, the quintessential Angel costume, the Byrne/Clairemont era design that is classically clean.
>>84372819
oops, "Claremont"
>>84372813
I will post two more issues, with Ka-Zar/Savage Land adventure.
The book went on for 3 more issues, but they were pretty bad, especially considering this great run, and the great run after.
>>84372890
>>84372921
>>84372929
The Ka-Zar adventure actually flow in directly to the previous issue.
This was not very common in silver age, when stuff reseted to status-quo after almost every issue. I think at least.

Oh wow I never realized he actually chose the name because he was a Tolkien nerd
That's fucking hilarious
>>84372969
>>84372980
>>84372979
Yeah, his character is super goofy.
He sucks energy to turn into a pterodactyl, and he named himself Sauron since he liked Tolkien.
>>84371687
Nice effect on Wanda there.
>>84373022
I am also never sure about the logic of Savage Land
Is it under the ground everywhere, no matter where you go?
But then, asking about the logic of Savage Land is asking too much
>>84373063
I think Neal Adams - who co-wrote this (Marvel method and all) - actually believes in hollow Earth theory.
I am not sure if its proponents think it's full of dinosaurs or not

>>84372819
is given to Angel by Magneto in order to trick him to fight against X-Men
He just keeps wearing it
Magneto is a better designer than Jean Grey (Who made the original one. Since she is a woman, she made dresses. Fuck political correctness!)

I like Lorelei. Wish she was around more.
Anyway. This is the last I will post. Since it's the best way to end it.
The promised "saga" in the blurb never comes
The next issue is the first story with Sunfire. It's not terrible, but it's not really good either, and it has all the slightly racist elements you would expect. Probably except for the "mysterious dragon lady", that trope is missing.
The issue after that is a story with angry aliens. It's not so bad, but it could be so much better. It's Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams, but it's not nearly as good as their Green Lantern/Green Arrow few years later. It brings back Charles Xavier in a stupid way.
And the issue after that is a super dumb Hulk fight issue.
And then there is the cancellation and reprints. And in 5 years, Giant Size X-Men, but I will not post that today.
That's all.
