Currently binging Regular Show and this Thomas is the most boring, bland, forgettable character of the entire show. There was really no reason for him to be there and the way they got rid of him gave him way too much importance. He should have never been in the show.

i feel like maybe they weren't sure what they were doing with him. at first it was a funny joke, like.. who's this guy? he's just the new guy.. is he never going to be important? heh he's bland, that's funny. he's kinda just there. are they ever going to explain him? oh he's the intern, that's mildly funny. that's a real thing from jobs..
but it was never a SUPER funny joke, so it kinda made you wonder if it was building on something or if it was just .. flavor.
Then they did a few jokes about the fact that he was the butt of all the jokes.. which.. almost felt cringey, but then got better? it was weird. the pacing was fucking weird.
actually i feel like a lot of the modern cartoons are suffering from the 11-minute format when what they really want to do is tell occasional epic 44-minute startrekky kinda stories. instead they spread them out over a season.
anyway the stuff they ended up doing was... a surprise at least! but i can't say it was a good surprise.

Wtf happened to that? Who thought it was a good idea to air just an 11 minute episode, especially when it's the premier of a new episode? That shits so dissalointing, you think an episode looks good so you wait all week for it and it turns out to be just a quick blip of a real show.

You're expecting way too much of him. I always viewed him as exactly what he was supposed to be: an extra worker to the park that does all the other jobs. He's not SUPPOSED to be a major character, they just wanted to introduce someone else working at the park.
The episode where he leaves was a fun opprotunity at a send off no one expected that was fun to watch instead of "Well, I'm done my internship, bye"

In theory this new format should be more beneficial to shows because it allows more variety per half hour block because you can just mix up episodes however you want. So for the traditional format those two episodes will always be paired together for better and worse. The Spongebob episodes you will never see are the gum wrapper and Valentine's Day episodes because those are packaged together and obviously they're only aired on Valentine's Day.
