Guys ive gotten to the point where im about to give up on this company. I barely enjoy any of the comics they have put out in the last few years and i used to read almost everything. If it wasn't for Ewing and Duggan i probably would have stopped completely already anybody else feeling the same here?

Fuckin stupid.
>>
>>84362323
I pirate both Moon Knight, which is just serviceable, and The Punisher, which is so bad it's depressing but I like the character so I'll probably stick it out until it become outright unbearable.

But yeah Marvel is irredeemable now.
>>
>>84362375
People read Marvel and DC for their "universes". It's no different than being into a video game franchise.
>>
>>84362323
I'm on the same boat and I've been reading Marvel for 32 years
>>
Same here. Most of my favorite characters have been replaced, emarginated, or died. The current Marvel Universe is almost unrecognizable to me, at this point. Why i should care
>>
I honestly don't even care about the changes. I just wish they'd focus on quality rather than constantly (and obviously) trying to get new readers by being """shocking""".

It's stupid. It's dumb. Because, I mean, I personally am a new Marvel reader, trying to get into their books with ANAD......and all these upcoming changes, all these bad creative teams on big books, all these events and whatnot -- it's just ruining my motivation to go deeper into their comics.

Right now, at least, I'm content with going through their back catalog and ignoring anything new they have (currently reading Lee/Ditko Spider-Man).
>>
>>84362448
Why are still selling? Are there actually new readers?

Continuous relauncing, events, and other marketing gimmicks i suppose. The current comic book readership goes after them apparently.
>>
>>84362542
I wanna debate you so hard.......Um Utopia and Second coming? Fuck
>>
>>84362323
Honestly, I only ever really came back to Marvel at all because of movies/games.
Most of my buys are going to be older material.

I still mostly hate what they're actually currently producing, and it reinforces my decision to drop this shit years ago.
>>
I could never get into modern marvel. It always felt so self-conscious, like a teenage girl who's desperately wants to fit in.
>>
>>84362639
At least well always have Busiek Avengers before Bendis raped the franchise.

I only read ASM (despite hating Slott), Punisher and Invicible Iron Man.

And since Tony is being replaced by "generic minority character", I'm dropping Invicible soon.

Fuck Marvel, I'll be exclusively DC from now on.

I know your feeling on the ASM thing. Hate where it's going, but I have too much love for Peter to stop.

Other shit I'm following at Marvel at the moment is Mercs for Money, Spider-Man/Deadpool, Vision, and Daredevil. Other than that I've almost exclusively switched over to DC.
>>
>>84363792
>muh DC

Neither DC nor Marvel are worth reading at all. If you're going to stoop so low as to enjoy this trash then one is exactly the same as the other.
>>
>>84363792

We know, junior. It's not as popular(despite having the two biggest properties in the genre's history) so it's the hip one to like.

Annihilation.
The Guardians of the Galxey follow up.
World War Hulk
I personally liked the slott She Hulk and GLA minis

After that mileage will vary.
>>
>>84363873
I don't think we've been reading the same books by DC. Recently they've been knocking this shit out of the park.
>>
>>84363792

both make good books and both make bad books. are you only allowed to read like one comic a day or something?
>>
>>84363930
most of the rebirth titles have been mediocre
>>
>>84363993
Well mediocre is kicking Marvel's ass.
>>
>>84363945
I just generally prefer DC and I think it has a lot to do with how DC interweaves their past stories to form a more interesting background setting.
>>
X-men is still fucked right? What was the last good x-men comic?
>>
>>84365292
Carey's X-Men Legacy?
>>
>>84365292

Uncanny X-Men is currently good, also Old Man Logan

If you mean great, then X-Men Legacy by Spurrier november 2012- March of 2014

And before that Uncanny X Men by Gillen which from 2011-2012 + his Avengers vs X-Men Consequences

2014 after March +2015 were the worst years for X-Men, a desert of Bendis.

Even since before reading it I knew Secret Wars would be my final Marvel story. It was so big and legit good I could only see the line going downhill afterwards. The ending was oddly beautiful, every single character resolved their issues, came to term with everything that had happened to them, even the end of the world and choosing who they would be, all evil was defeated and done away with with a new world created and a second chance at happiness for all. It's the perfect end to decades of Marvel, why would I want anything after it?
>>
I like Gwenpool, Nova, and Vision currently. I'll probably read Champions to see if it's good. I like most of these new characters, Miles Morales excluded.
>>
>>84363894
>World War Hulk
No way. Not to mention that this is the biggest offender of the status quo in comics. All the damage Hulk caused was repaired in no time.
>>
>>84362323
Not really, what I've been following I've been enjoying, what I don't I just hear about from you guys. Honestly, I've been enjoying more stuff from them than naught, same with DC, and a few of the upcoming titles just sound awesome, I'm not about to give up on either company.
>>
>>84364310
Doing reboots?
>>
>>84366422
Reboots are like a forest fire, it's beneficial in the long run clearing out the dead trees.
>>
>>84362323
Same. I'm reading Deadpool, Visions, Ant-Man & Moon Knight. That's about it, DC is doing way better right now.
>>
>>84366422
Just cause DC does Reboots doesn't mean they forget the old stories. In fact reboots help weed out the clunky continuity that stifles character and story and helps discern the timeless elements.
>>
>>84366422
Reboots doesn't mean past stories are forgotten.
Look at reboots like shuffling a deck of cards.

>>
>>84362323
The only shit I have bought from Marvel lately has been omnibuses of old stuff. I have no interest in any of their new shit with its shitty art and sjw agenda and with how much they are trying to destroy the X franchise
>>
>>84362560
And where are Eclipse comics now?
>>

DC does the occasional hard reboot to clean house.
Marvel is constantly soft rebooting multiple times a year.

With the un-rebooting of Rebirth DC has never had a full on hard reboot.

Did we read the same Secret Wars? Hickman's run and almost all its tie-ins leading up to the event moved from decent character work to setpiece after setpiece setting up the power of the next threat. Every character arc was rushed to a resolution by the time the actual event came around.

Todd McFarlane currently owns the rights to Eclipse publications that are not yet taken back by their respective creators/estates.

Speaking of this, why don't they have separate comics for characters set in their own universe, where they are the only heroes. Superman could have one where he's the only hero, same with Batman, GL, and Flash. That could be fun.
>>
>>84370133
It's been said before but X-Men would be better in it's own little canon
>>
>>84370202
Marvel did something like that in the DeFalco era

I've been reading for 15 years and I'm barely hanging on, I'd say /co/ is the only reason I pay attention to modern comics.
I do 95% of my non-novel reading pre-2000s or just manga these days.

I think the last Marvel comic I enjoyed was Ellis' Moon Knight, even though I didn't like as much as some of the earlier runs. I tried Lemire's but it doesn't click with me.

Playing at Marvel EIC and with the current staff of writres I would switch the writers like this:
>Ewing = cosmic books
>Soule = Midnight Sons/Marvel horror relaunch
>Spencer = X-Men
>Spurrirer = Death's Head
>Waid = Steve Rogers Cap
>Bendis = Punisher (it would be better than Cloonan and they won't fire him)
>PAD = Spider-Man
>Ellis= Squadron Supreme
>Waid = Iron Man
>Wair or PAD= Thunderbolts

Just do what I've done for the last few years now and get a tablet, pick a character you like, and download the entirety of one of their titles. Then start reading, skipping only when a new writer you don't like takes over.
Spider-Man was a good one. ASM is consistently quality until Michelinie.

Same here, anon. I was probably buying 30 or so Marvel comics a month at the peak of the Quesada-era. Now, I have windled down all the way down to two: Spider-Man and Punisher and that is only because I have been following those guys since I was like three.

If I were you I'd check out some of the new rebirth books from DC, some of the IDW books, maybe Valiant. The best thing that could happen to Marvel right now is for them to realize that their current plan/agenda results in low sales, but that can only happen if people stop buying this shit.
>>
>>84365523
Laura's book is pretty good also.
>>
What's putting me off is the constant relaunches and shake ups, books aren't allowed to have stories for longer than a year before they're forced to have to start over and lose momentum because they need to make their next #1 issue "new reader friendly". I mean for fuck's sake New Avengers will do absolutely nothing with Evil Reed/The maker and will just become US Avengers when they finish their fight with Shield.
>>

>>84362323
Only books I'm still reading consistently are Deadpool and Vision. I'll pop in the occasional storytime of Ewing's books, Gwenpool, and Spidey/Deadpool, but honestly once Vision ends I might just go full indie. For some reason, Bendis wiring a Doom as Iron Man book was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
