The hate comes from the first few seasons which were awful.The show improved with each season so now it's mediocre instead of bad.Assuming it continues improving the season after this one should be good.
I think some of the earlier seasons which were complete crap, like waypool channeled through Humphries.

Because there's no actual story to it. No gravitas making the fights interesting. They're just silly superhero clashes plaid as campy as can be. Spectacular was enjoyed because while each episode had a supervillain, it also featured Peter Parker struggling to navigate life. In this show, Peter's a generally annoying kid who has everything great going for him and not a lot of drama. His Aunt May is apparently rich and can afford all those kids living at her house.
It's been awhile since I used this example so forgive me if the details are wrong.
I was watching an episode of this, where Harry and Norman Osborn were having a confrontation over Norman's treatment of Harry. In the middle of this, Green Goblin attacks, which is an interesting twist because the show had an ongoing mystery over whether Harry or Norman was the Goblin, and throws Norman out the window. Spider-Man dives out after him.
Before he can catch him, the action suddenly pauses so Spider-Man can ruin this dramatic scene by quipping.
This show could not go even one single scene without having to stop for comedy for absolutely no reason.
