How long has it been since we had that consistent formula? Feels long enough to stop bitching about it already. Not every episode Finn and Jake go on adventures, even in season 1. Ricardio, no adventures there just a detailed heart attempting an assasination. Prisoners of Love, no adventure there, just locked in a cell. I think I liked that episode well enough. 7/10 seems fair.
I didn't really like Charlie too much, her voice and manner of speaking was awkward and annoying to listen to. She had a somewhat interesting personality though, lived in a cool place.
Also, holy shit what OP powers, that part was pretty stupid. Charlie is like the fucking strongest character we've seen in the show so far.
Jake's stuff was cool. Finally have more acknowledgement of him aging, apparently he forgot how old he is. I liked his Card Wars rage.
The more odd metaphysical stuff... yeah I didn't get it, no idea what they were going for. Some neat imagery but mostly fell flat. I did like evil Jake though, reminded me of The Witches Garden.
Sadly I think they really made Card Wars seem more gimmicky than its initial episode, games ended in like two moves this episode while the Finn and Jake beginner game went on a whole lot longer. Not a big deal but it really diminishes the charm Card Wars had.
The oil rig was a fucking awesome setting though.
Overall just okay enough, not chomping at the bit to see any more of Charlie in the future.

With stereotypical dog years that would make him 8 real years younger than Finn, but we've seen Jake and Finn together when they both looked like babies so that doesn't work. I assume Finn ages like a normal human, but Jake is magical and could age in crazy ways. It might not even be a linear increase. He might have some exponential or logarithmic aging for all we know.

My theory is that Joshua and Margret taught him how to be a dope adventurer, and somehow they died biting off more than they could chew. Cue Jake stepping in to take care of Finn because he and Jermaine are subjectively older. So did Charlie go the our version of Egypt? I'd figure that the place would just look Egyptian-ey but still have a definite flair on it to show that it's 1000 years after a nuclear war that brought magic back to the world but it looked like pretty standard ancient Egypt fare.

You don't remember Marceline's backstory very well. Marceline in those pictures is as old as she was in "Everything Stays." Hudsen is also seen holding an infant Marceline, this implies that he was around when she was born. Marceline is a human demon hybrid that got turned into a vampire. Her mother always has been human. Hudsen's absence can be further explained by the orginal Fry Song, that was cut for time. One of the lines being "I can count your visits on my fingertips, come on back and bring me presents from your buisness trips. Marceline didn't get to see her father very often, and her mother presumably died in the Great Mushroom War, seen in "I Remember You," where she is crying alone .

Marceline has talked very fondly of her mother, in "Henchman" talking about her mother being there to patch her up when she fell down, Marceline's mom has always been around, until the GMW. Then Simon took care of her until he abandoned her for own good, then she became a vampire hunter, then she became a vampire queen. The one that wasn't involved in Marceline's life was Hudson, her song explains this.

Nice fanfiction
Does anyone else enjoy episodes where it focuses on multiple things at a time? For example in "Bun Bun" we were transitioning from Cinnamon Bun watching over Bun Bun, and Finn and FP hanging out in the castle. It just makes the episode a bit more interesting. Sort of like in "DDCW", where we transitioned from Jake's game to Charlie at her temple. I don't mean cut-a-ways, but where the episode goes back and forth for a minutes. I like this format better than having the episode stay consistent on one character, i.e, focusing on one thing. I only say this because some episodes that have the latter get very boring when it's just the character having a monologue. Examples being BMO Noire, and Up A Tree.

Not that guy but I didn't like stakes either. In not a fan of the deep introspective shit. I want bright colors, random humor, and D&D style adventure. More dungeons, more monsters, less "muh emotions" stuff. I think the series in season 4 and 5 were the best.

In season 3 we had deep stuff and not enough adventuring. Not every adventure Finn and Jake have takes place in a far away land, sometimes they just have fun in another way. "Guardians of Sunshine." Adventure Time has always had random humor, Stakes didn't have monsters? Color not very prominent but the miniseries was great, we have had like what, 5 dungeon episodes? Why is this a standard? Jake didn't want to lose the CW tourney because he wanted to feel dignified, and finally feel content with his life. He wants to be able to move on. Well I fail to see your point, why wouldn't Charlie be good at Card Wars? Besides the point, it was just luck the first time, and Jake wanted her to be good at it because she has potential. It was only the first round. Charlie isn't into Card Wars, and she didn't understand the fact the game meant so much to Jake. Jake wins by forcing a draw, but despises the fact that he has contradicted his entire purpose on being there, to feel dignified, and forcing a draw doesn't bring dignity. Charlie performed a spell to see her future self, and what life would bring. After seeing herself, she realizes that Jake is right about fixing faults of youth, she ends at her 90's and merges so she can be wise. She then remember she needed to go back to help her father, to help him fix his faults if youth. Jake didn't flip shit because that isn't dignified, he wanted to feel diginified, and did so by honoring a good game. Charlie did help him by doing some sort of magic on him pushing out his 20's mindset, but the choice to not flip out was his own decision. That showed Jake's maturity, which is what he wanted to feel. You do realize describing something in a negative manner doesn't help at all right? Instead of bitching about everything you feel you could possibly bitch about, try actually watching the episode. Could this episode have been done better? Yes. Thats why I gave it a 7/10, but you are just showing off your autism. How is it not character development? Explain yourself. Why can't Charlie be good at CW even though she use tarot cards? What happened is only those that see world through the eyes and innocence of a child, and those that have suffered a great loss, will be able to see and hear the Hole. Finn met these requisites, and he acknowledged that he has been through a lot, but he is greatful that he has the ability to be seen and cared for by others, which the Hole does not have. He acknowledges that he has friends who are there for him, even though he has been though some shit. This effectively gets Finn out of that depressed mood. Those the commited suicide would be able to see and hear the Hole. She sings because she has nothing else to do, she cannot take part in anything, and is a great singer because she has has so much time and practice to perfect it. He wasn't really accepting sadness, but acknowledging what he did have, and disregarding what he has lost.
