It comes of trite and endemic of the real problem of characters like Kamala. Kamala was originally sold as a Muslim superhero that is cognizant of the problems of Islamic teachings and constantly gripes/broods that she hates this type of thinking in general. You would think she would have an arc where she actually tries to be the change that is needed in her community. Sure she'll argue with the local imam about intolerant doctrines but when it came to standing up for what she believes in she just goes into a corner and sobs while the religious leaders of her community prattle on with bullshit. It comes off hypocritical, spineless, and disingenuous that she doesn't speak up about this type of thinking in her own home, especially knowing that her voice can actually make a difference in their thinking.
