So just the other day there was a thread on why SU would be dying soon because of lack of a regular airing schedule. Which took away hype and viewers. But now. They announced another Steven Bomb, that (almost) every week day in July/August (til the end of summer basically) a new episode would air. How does /co/ think that will effect the show/and or fanbase? The quality? The hype? Will it be oversaturated? Or is this perfect? The team has stated that it takes weeks to make an ep, so im guessing that all of these are pre made, so short deadlines shouldnt effect the quality right? Maybe thats what they were working on all this time?
>>
i really don't understand why cartoon network thinks that bombs are all that much better than just a consistent weekly airing schedule. It's pretty obvious they're dumping pretty much the entirety of this year's episodes into this month long superbomb. I'll enjoy it while it happens, but if this succeeds itll just encourage CN to have huge hiatuses and then huge bombs and I'd prefer a bit more consistent airing schedule
>>
Actual children (CW's target demo) don't really care about lesbian space rocks. Best bomb the whole series and get it out of the way for the man-children so they can air something kids watch.
>>
I hope no other CN internationally is doing this
>>
>>84277934
>>84277983
I'm not even sure why they picked SU of all shows to do this with. A show like Young Justice seems like a better fit for this kind of schedule because its more linear while SU can do just fine with the weekly schedule because of how episodic it is.

I personally know a guy who stopped following SU because of the schedule. He hates the hiatuses and is just waiting for them to dump more episodes before he gets back into the series.

>>84278011
I thought SU had respectable ratings when it was weekly?
>>
>SU would be dying soon because of lack of a regular airing schedule

It's been confirmed the reason they don't do that is competition. If they announce too early, it gives other networks a chance to compete. Plus SU has merchandise which is what the current CN management care about. That's a sign we got a few more years.
>>
>>84277934
Is that a photo? Why didn't you just take a screenshot?
>>
>>84277934
They probably just doing the whole Netflix thing (dump a whole season at once, go on hiatus for a few months, repeat).

Kind of annoying but hey, the fact that we're getting the rest of S3 over the next two months is pretty hype.
>>
>>84278084
Its a screenshot of a vine of a screenshot passed around on twitter. And since i dont use twiter i just screenshoted that. So its lost a LOT of quality and pixels along the way. /p/ would cringe.
>>
>>84278101
I didnt think about comparing it to Netflix. Weird to see their ways catching on to more mainstream media types... Media Evolution (or de-evolution depending on how you see it) at its finest.
>>
>>84278166
That's stupid as fuck, and you don't even need an account to see tweets.
>>
>>84277983

>>
>>84277934

>>
>>84279660
So when it dies will people blame retarded scheduling or der ebul right wing nazies who secretly control the world and hate lesbian space rocks?
>>
>>84277934
>At this point in Adventure Time's lifespan season 5 (which episode number wise is equivalent to season 4 of SU) was just beginning
>Season 4 of UG (who's seasons start usually a month before SU's equivalent season) began a few weeks ago
>Hit the Diamond (the first episode copyrighted 2016) premiered in early june, while the first episodes copyrighted 2014 and 2015 (So Many Birthdays and The Message) premiered during the March's of their respective years
If CN decides to go back to weekly then there won't be a long hiatus after this event (on the other hand they'll probably continue with what they're doing now)

Gonna be a bunch of shit episodes, and then end on a cliffhanger after 2 good episodes.
>>
>>84283186
Never heard a truer statement about SU
>>
Isn't it obvious?

This shit's because of The Loud House. It's no coincidence that, right after TLH crushes SU in ratings during its big dramatic weekly event, all future episodes are pushed down the line to be forced into one month of straight episodes.

Kind of like how TLH had one month of daily episodes. Huh.
>>
>>84283469
I dare say any show's going to have higher ratings then one that ISN'T AIRED.
>>
>>84283590
Loud House gets high ratings on average while SU only gets good ratings for "special events". Ergo, every episode for SU has to be a "special event" or it'll get Clarence and Grandpa levels of ratings.
>>
>>84285290
Loud House is great, but seeing as it overtook Spongebob and Spongebob was getting crazy ratings anyway, would this be more due to the channel? Nick is the go-to babysitter for tired/terrible parents.

It's pretty nice that we have TLH, SU coming back two weeks, and Star coming back in a week. Every channel will have something to watch.
>>
>>84277934
They're trying to follow the Netflix model: dump an entire season of a show as opposed to airing it on a weekly basis, because apparently that shit blows up the ratings

The problem is Netflix is not only consistent but readily available. They dump an entire season of a show and people are able to re-watch it as much as they want on their stream service rather than pirating or using a third-party host. Not to mention the more successful Netflix show dumps are HOURS worth of content. Orange is the New Black is an hour for every episode. And we know for a fact that the next season will be released next year.

Steven is on cable, so kids can't re-watch the show at their leisure unless they sign up for the shitty CN app which is limited in episodes. And it's constantly put on hiatus, we don't know when the new episodes will be dumped, or even the amount that will be dumped. We might get as little as one hour's worth of content. CN can't follow Netflix's format because Netflix is a streaming format, they arranged their release of episodes for themselves, not for cable.
>>
>>84286068
When in doubt kisscartoon it.
>>
>>84277983
Because when they were doing one bomb a week with rotating shows they were going through their stocks of new episodes slower than they were with all shows doing their new episodes on Thursday nights.
At that time it made sense, 6 shows doing a new episode once a week was 24 episodes in a month, but one show doing 5 new episodes every weeknight totaled just 20 episodes total. So they had better ratings on a wider range of nights and it saved on new content.
I'm not sure why they stopped doing this, aside from the fact they no longer have 6 shows actively producing new episodes.

>>
>>84288657
Its because Steven Universe's quality is quickly going down the tubes. Every episode is very boring and just tries to push the narrative as slowly as possible. Its also pandering to people who don't watch live.

Loud House is succeeding because it is new and it is fulfilling its niche.
>>
>>84277934
>So just the other day there was a thread on why SU would be dying soon because of lack of a regular airing schedule
That's just dumbasses chan trash yammering on about how the thing they obsessively hate will fail despite common sense suggesting other wise.See also /v/ constantly claiming Sony/microsoft/Nintendo is doomed.
>>
>>84288657
I mean success and quality don't actually have anything to do with each other

Not to sound elitist but they don't give out Oscars based on who had the highest numbers at the box office

Higher ratings don't actually say anything about the quality of one show over another, don't lie we have all seen good shows that just didn't get their audience or shit shows that people just ate up too no end despite how bad they were
>>
>>84277934
Why do people always complain about bombs? They're great. You get one episode each day instead of having to wait an entire week
>>
>>84292436
I mean we would rather have weekly without hiatuses than bombs with hiatuses

also some people feel that bombs overload the fanbase, we aren't able to fully and properly discuss an episode before we already have the next one thrust upon us

Steven Universe is currently the top rated show on Cartoon Network and the 4th highest rated kids show on television, behind only Girl Meets World, The Loud House, and Spongebob. It's not going anywhere until 2018 at the absolute earliest.

>>
>>84297809

>>
>>84297854
people tend to be a little over defensive to criticism about the show, you have to admit
>>
>>84297930
People are like that with anything they like.
Gravity Falls, Undertale, even some hardcore AT fans still left over.
>>
>>84297930
yeah because its impossible to actually have meaningful conversation since the majority of "critics" have never actually watched the show and are just criticizing it because they are told they dislike it

I mean that isn't just a problem with SU that is a problem in general right now, people are polarized, either you watch and you are a big fan or you don't watch and you hate it

Personally I try to be reasonable and critical of both thinks I like and dislike but its kinda hard when such a small minority actually care about having serious and civil conversation on topics about quality
>>
>>84290864
>quality is quickly going down the tubes
>every episode is very boring and just tries to push the narrative as slowly as possible
>its also pandering to people who don't watch live
You fucking what m8. Alright the first two are subjective and your own opinion, but the last one is definitely not true. The main story was already written with a begin to an end some time ago. The individual episodes written by the storyboarders/writers are still being worked on and fill in the gabs, but in the end these will still be in line with the main story. For example when Warp Tour aired for the first time they were already working on Log Date 7 15 2. So fanpandering how?

They're probably trying to cut into the binge-watch model of Netflix and Hulu. They obviously can't marathon the whole series in 12 hours because it might alienate more scheduled families who can't plop their kid in front of the tv all day. So they compromise and try to air all of the episodes daily with reruns for kids who missed yesterday in an attempt to force brand awareness and increase the likelihood of selling licensed products.
>>
>>84298057
This is especially funny given how many people accuse the Crew of pandering to the fans with Peridot's redemption. They had the entire redemption arc worked out by the time we first saw her.
>>

>>
Can't find the article anymore, but there was one about how these Stevenbombs really DO work.

Basically, they looked at the google trends for all the currently running CN shows.
SU during regular scheduling was basically in line with everything else. Then the first bomb happened and it spiked HARD.
And after the spike, it fell back down, but still not down to the baseline with the others.
And it kept like that, each bomb giving a massive spike and a lesser falloff.

Part of this, obviously, comes from the first bomb being the S1 finale when a lot of people got into the show, but the fact remains that the bombs destroy the regular show buzz.

This Steven "Nuke" will be very interesting to see if things keep up.

Unlike the majority of SU's fanbase, I actually go outside and interact with the world. Most of the time, kids buy stuff related to Minecraft; Minecraft is very popular with children.

Minecraft; Minecraft is very popular with children.

Since minecraft is popular with children, SU isn't?

>Muh anecdotes determine reality

Well, according to MY anecdote, my brothers and sister (6, 10 and 14) always crave for new episodes, to the point that last year they were willing to see them with fan-made subtitles (we're italians and the show's schedule was really slow for a while here)

But why do i even bother talking with the shitposter

First of all, you should all speak for yourself and not for a whole group. But personally I am excited about the upcoming episodes. I like the balance between action/more plot focused episodes and the relaxed slice of life episodes this show has. I might have a small preference for lore related episodes, but I'm actually looking forward to see some Beach City shenanigans again. Just a bit of a break from the Cluster arc. We're going to finish this season soon anyway, so how many townie episodes will we get at first? 7-10? Than followed by this possible Amethyst arc and what seems to be a whole bunch of other plot focused episodes.

Also you as well should speak for yourself. I too get outside a lot and see people often e.g.yesterday I had this family reunion and in a few hours I will be going to a party But how does this matter or relate to SU's popularity without any trends and graphs as back up? You don't proof anything here m8

Reading comprehension.

I'm saying Minecraft is what kids are into. It's simple and colorful as opposed to SU, which is more complex and appeals to older people.

I assume that after the long hiatus they had already finished the majority of the episodes of season 3 already. If anything there might be some voice over work left.
>>
>>84299664
Again, that's just speculation and children can like more than a thing at the same time.
>>

Best estimates put them somewhere in the middle of working on the season after this one

I found a kid at the park and followed them around all day and they didn't talk about SU, watch it or buy any merch. CN needs to make more shows about kids who hide behind their parents and point at strangers, because that's apparently all they care about doing these days.

Holy fuck if you're the same shitposter I think we've reached the point in which there's no reasoning with you. Actually stalking a kid wow. But if I'm somehow going to ignore your creepy pedophile act, how does following one or two kids proof anything? Ever heard of a survey? 1 or 2 are not representative, not even 10.
