I've been trying to get in to Preacher and Outcast, but I'm having really hard time wanting to continue. I'm two episodes into both, and I'm not sure what to do.
Preacher feels too wacky and unfocused and Outcast's been a cliche yawn-fest so far.

It's pretty good actually.. BUT the series is not following the comic which is why it wont be givin' a chance or will be bashed because "they changin' muh characters!!1!". If you can put the source material aside you might enjoy it, has some pretty good moments
It took them 6 episodes to realize how to make a Preacher show. It was all just slow bullshit until now. Any decent director could squeeze all the town stuff, Quincannon stuff, Jesse getting the Word and slowly losing his shit because of it into 2-3 episodes.

I think it's great, but not really an adaptation, more like fan fiction. Last episode really confirms that.
I like how they sped up the relationship between characters without the ever going america land of the free garble.
I hate how they are stretching the church thing and miss placing some characters instead of focusing in more important ones like the backstory of the saint or the angels.
Overall I like the fan fiction elements, they feel refreshing for a TV series while being Supernatural class hammy scenes, it fits the Preacher quite nicely. What I feel the series misses the point is the teenager cathartic moments like the bar brawl from the first episode, the comic build them up like until you get as angry as Jesse and then its revenge porn all the way. In the show, you just hang on with Jesse until he gets fed up, but without a real payoff. For example he had to deal with a pedophile bus driver, but all he does is a comment on how he cant stop looking at a little girl. Thats enough motivation but if that was the comic it would look like the Roscharch discovery in Watchmen. It would boil you with rage instead of "omg look at this looser eyeing children again".
Although its all a big set up anyway so we will have to wait and see if it payoffs. I almost ditched because it looked like it was being cancelled but they just confirmed a season two, so something is alright with it.

The worst thing about AMC's Preacher adaptation is that they have ruined Tulip by making her a one dimensional foil to Jessie with the personality of a smug sociopath, in the comic she doesn't like killing people she does it to protect Jessie and the worst thing about Jessie's past in the comics was that he was a car thief Tulip is an expert gunsmith but she is not a stone cold hit woman. Cassidy is supposed to be Jessie's shoulder devil he doesn't need two. She is not trying to get him to return to a life of crime she whats to know why he became a Preacher. Stupid show. Cassidy is a scum bag if they write Tulip like one there is not going to be any basis for her and Jessie's relationship.
i really dig it. that last ep's intro was fuckin hilarious. im also liking the cass/tulip relationship. why did she have sex with him again?

It's pretty good. Just approach it as being inspired by the comic, instead of it being a 1:1 translation.
The salvation arc was the weakest so I'm glad their getting that out of the way in season 1. Hopefully they don't drag it out.
