In the case of DH they pretty much fired all their editors who complained to management about Allie's transgressions and told to STFU. It's pretty much why DH is supposedly suffering editorially. In the case of DC Berganza knows where all the bodies are buried (such as Dan Didio's own supposed misdeeds) and he is loyal so the important people don't get rid of him unless retaining him becomes more detrimental than it is now.
