How Did The Flash TV show turn out to be better than any capeshit movie? Despite the forced love story lines this is everything you could want from the superhero medium
The showrunners are clearly passionate about the character and the lore, and the cast has great chemistry and respect for the setting. It has heart, and it compensates for its technical shortcomings due to the shoestring budget the CW can afford them.
Plus Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin and Tom Cavanagh are all great actors and the foundation the show is built on, so it covers the dramatic bases nicely, while Carlos Valdes has great timing and does great comedy.
Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker and Keinyan Lonsdale are kinda' bland, though.

Personality-wise he's pretty fitting for young Barry. A bit of a dork with a strong sense of justice and a bit of sass, who is inherently hopeful and inspiring.
For starters, TV is a better medium for Capestuff than Movies. TV allows for more development and investment in the characters and the story. Imagine condensing Season 1 or 2 into and 3 hours or less movie.

Because it actually kind of feels like watching a comic book, the monster of the week style that they use with over arching drama and storyline plots work very well for a cape show. Arrow tried to do this, but it failed and Flash just improved on everything CW was doing right by arrow.

Yes, Arrow began the CWverse, but with LoT setting up the JSA, Flash going through Flashpoint and introducing the multiverse which "resulted" in Supergirl, and Supergirl now an official part of the CWverse, it's kind of just there

I wasn't a fan of the overall Season 2 story with Zoom but there were some standalone diamonds in the rough. The midseason finale with the Rogues and the Reverse Flash Returns mainly coming to mind.

I was actually really disappointing by Season 2. Over all it just wasn't anywhere near as good as the first. I have a terrible feeling that the first season was a fluke, and phenomenal luck in how well the guy who plays wells handled the role of Reverse Flash, that will never be replicated in the show again.
The fact that Arrow generally blows are a pretty solid first season, and Discount Justice League was a wreck from the start, lend weight to this.
At least Gotham is legitimately amazing.

It's just okay on average but it looks a lot better when compared to the DCEU.
During S1, people were grateful to get DC live action that was better than MoS where the hero actually enjoys hero-ing, and the threads were mostly positive instead of shitposting. The word comfy comes to mind.
