>"Ant-Man" had a better Lex Luthor than "Batman v Superman"

What went wrong?
>>
Do you bleed, OP?
>>
He was really bland though
>>
>>84215787

Do you ding, ding, ding, anon? You will.
>>
>>84215776
is Zach Snyder the most hated person on /co/ AND /tv/?
>>
>>84215803
Which is really saying something since he was still better than Lex.
>>
>>84215807
Oh, you touch me ta la la
>>
>>84215818
Eh. I still hate his direction but the Ultimate Cut actually works as a movie. Not a particular you good movie but it's not the hot garbage the theatrical cut was.

Still don't want him on JL but I don't think he's necessarily a bad film maker.
>>
>>84215854
My friend was shocked that this man made the masterpiece Dawn of the Dead
>>
>>84215848
>Severely underrated and I hope he gets to make a comeback.

We really need a bad guy team up movie for the next Avengers.
>>
>>84215868
Pretty much this. He can make a good movie like Dawn of the Dead, 300 or Watchmen if you feeling generous. I think it depends on the type of movie he's making. Also he should never have totally creative control. Other wise you get Suckered Punch
>>
>>84215934
Sucker Punch was good if you take it for what it is - eye candy
>>
A better Ultron than Memetron too.
>>
>>84215965
This.
He wasn't Lex.
He was Ultron.
A "son" of Hank Pym who is a mix of wanting daddy's affection and hating him for not recognizing his potential.
>>
>>84215803
Not really. He only lacked focus.
I actually liked the dialogue between him and Hank Pym.
A shame we didn't get more.

He was also a businessman obsessed with his own legacy and a massive superiority complex. That's Lex.

>>
>>84216374

Nah it wasn't his legacy he was obsessed about.
It was Pym's.
He wanted to be Hank's heir and son.
But Hank spurned him.
So he chased after becoming Hank himself

Plus, look at his suit's design. Picture that in chrome and red.

He was genuinely deranged, the actor did a good job of showing that.

Beyond that, he's just another bland villain who died in their first movie and was never mentioned again.

i immediately dropped it when i heard Michael Cera was playing Lex but when i finally watched the ultimate edition the other night i wasn't that disappointed. he was no Lex but he put on a show at least. i feel like if they did cast a person who looked the part and sub-par acted "serious" and "menacing" (you already have Henry Cavil making the stupidest faces in awkward situations) that it would have further made the already grim-dark shitfest of a movie worse.
>>
Yellowjacket actually felt threatening, is the thing. He had that totally deranged but just sane enough thing going on to hide it and be disturbing and threatening to the cast of the movie.

Eisenberg was actually cast as Jimmy Olsen.

>As Eisenberg thought out loud in rapid-fire bursts, Snyder watched the nervy, jangled young actor and started thinking of withdrawing the Jimmy Olsen offer. And after the 32-year-old actor left the meeting, Snyder turned to his wife: “I was like, ‘Wow, that guy is crazy… Debbie, what about Jesse as Lex?”

I'm joking though someone's dissection does make it seem like an ambitious movie.
You have to view it as satire of the whole action girl shtick.
It's critiquing media sold as female empowerment but ultimately just objectifyied and exploits them under a thin veneer of escapist fantasy. Both literally and figuratively
>>
>>84219317

that's a whole lot of buzzwords in a very small amount of space, I'm impressed

In the comics he's Clark Kent's ginger friend photographer who works at the Daily Planet.

In the movie he's the CIA guy who gets killed in the first few minutes in Africa.

SILVER AGE
Jimmy Olsen is Clark Kent's handsome hanger-on kid who gets all the pussy.

He's also Superman's Mad Adventure Friend in Space, where all sorts of zany shit happens to him.

POST CRISIS
He's some punk ass kid with varying degrees of smartmouth, but a heart of gold

Also? Zany shit

NEW52
Clark Kent's handsome hanger-on roommate who gets all the pussy, IN CLARK'S APARTMENT, AND ALSO SOMETIMES HIS SHOWER

Also, zany shit

REBIRTH
The future goes on forever, and Jimmy Olsen still gets mad pussy

MOVIE
Jimmy Olsen is shot in head, the dark man said

Zack is the male equivalent of that one cunt at every company that fucks up constantly, but keeps her job because she's sleeping with the manager.
>>
Am i the only one that liked Lex portrayal in the movie?

He reminded me of Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor, from the Richard Donner's movie, with his voices fluctuations, menacing jokes and body ticks.

He was pretty much a portrayal of a Google-type of nu-business man constantly trying to look nice, friendly and just.
>>
Smallville had the best luthor.
>>
>>84219802
While I agree with what you said, he's still not a good Lex Luthor, he's just a quirky crazy guy who made a monster because...?
If they wanted to go that way I'd rather he had made a kryptonite battle suit to battle the heroes then when he gets hit really bad his wig falls off

That's my problem with this Lex and almost every live-action version of the character. Even that version wasn't all that much like the actual Lex Luthor from the comic books.

Like, for one thing, Lex Luthor is bald and doesn't give a shit about it. He's not insecure about it.
>>

1978, anon.

You know, a time when Superboy was childhood friends with Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor.

Until the hair incident.

I find it funny that Superboy/man has two accidental "incidents" that define his life. One was the experiment that caused young Lex Luthor to lose his hair, giving him a mortal enemy for life.

The other one was the adventure where he inadvertently GAVE HIS PARENTS FUCKING SPACE AIDS and gave literally everything he could to save them but in the end they had to just die.

That's how we got the second version of Pa Kent's Great Responsibility speech, which is so important to Superman that there are three versions of it in the Silver Age alone.

Alright, fine.

But even then, adult Lex went around bald without any wigs all the time. It's not like it was something that he was especially conscious about by then.

>>
>>84215803
He did have the slightly paranoid yet confident-sounding and commanding voice of what Lex can be. He'd need a bit more monologuing and looking at windows.

The story was kind of eh because it started in medias res for him, so you never saw the development, you just saw him at his final stage, pretty much.

Also, why the fuck was Ant-Man that well crafted. The VFX were great, the action pieces were creative, the suits were GOAT, the score was great, the character interactions, particularly the family ones were so simple yet so great. Every little technical detail was marvellous, and even if the whole thing is cookie-cutter, it did have some neat personality to it all. What a neat movie it was.

That argument has the same problem a lot of poorly thought out meta pieces have: at the end of the day, it's still an example of the thing it's supposedly trying to skewer. Just going "put you see, I knew I was doing it, so that makes it okay" doesn't actually make it any better than any of the other examples that didn't do it "on purpose."

Things still have to be good stories on their own, in addition to whatever commentary they're trying to make, to be anything more than just more schlock.
