Why do you enjoy animation (or comic books or whatever you come here for.) and what got you interested in it in the first place?

>Why
I always enjoyed animation as an artistic medium thanks to the freedom it allows. For whatever reason claymation and stop motion never clicked the same way though. Go figure.
>What
I watched loads of cartoons as a kid since my parents were busy working folks. Don't regret it though, it made me bilingual before grade school.

They're fun

First cartoons were probably TMNT and RGB and first comics were Archie

Mostly I hate celebrities. It's much easier to accept characters when it's not some fucko doing the same typecasting I've seen 20 times already.

Also animation is an incredible medium of skill and technique where literally anything is possible.

I like comics because of the interplay of text/image, and cartoons because there's lots you can do with it that isn't possible with live action.

I think I got interested, honestly, because I was a lonely kid and could escape into other worlds (I also read a lot of non-comic books for this same reason.) I was unpopular but everybody knew I was good at drawing, and I was too shy to talk to people initially - but drawing cartoons and comics gave me an entry point.

I love seeing people's ideas just come to life in comics and animation.
I have a huge boner for character design, just seeing people come up with different ideas for characters is so entertaining to me.
The idea can sound stupid, even flat out retarded, but the execution can be great, and the idea doesn't sound stupid anymore. Imagine how dumb people thought Chowder or Catscratch was when the creator described the framework of it. Nothing is impossible when you're working with comics and animation, there's literally no limits. You could make a character out of anything, and you can tell a story with them- even if it doesn't make sense at first or makes people scratch their heads when you explain it to them.
>what
I got into it through watching Cartoon Network and Nicktoons and checking out a bunch of graphic novels from my school library back in the day, when I couldn't even be entertained by Harry Potter. I was so immersed, that I ended up loving it to bits.

The illustration aspect of it.

I think the vast majority of comics and cartoons are badly drawn, but the ones that look good are really great. On top of that, the ones that are drawn well also tend to be the one that are written well, so the good ones are really good.

However, 90% of the stuff /co/ discusses is shit that's meant to fill airtime or fill release schedules.

I always enjoyed animated movies and shows. I got really into it around the time Adventure Time came out, and also Tangled. I think it was Tangled that really set it off. After that I started really enjoying animation as an art form. I started browsing /co/ which introduced me to other awesome movies/shows.

I started getting into comics from browsing /co/. I'd already read some stuff like Watchmen and other capeshit but thanks to /co/ I found out about a lot of good non-capeshit. Now I'm more into comics than I am cartoons.
