The first Treehouse of Horror episode was bit spooky as a kid. It's a shame it's the only one they really went all in with making it scary instead of black comedy or just references.

If the Ghost Mansion episode of Ren and Stimpy counts, it was fucking existentially frightening. That was probably the first time as a kid I was confronted with the concept of suicide. It's a little eerie still, imo. Way funnier in retrospective though.
