Depends on who you are. Dogs want more attention, Cats are more self reliant. They care, but they're not in your face 24/7. Raven would spend most of her time in her books, but would be up for pretty much anything outside of that time. im not a psychologist, but shinji and asuka have shown to be two sides of a coin of sorts, that has shown in the series the potential to balance each other out. shinji is a weenie and a coward, and asuka isnt ladylike and too brash. they both have dissociation of some kind relating to their mother and father for various reasons.

I disagree. We saw in the show that while Shinji can dish some banter if he's feeling confident, if the people whose approval he craves keep shitting on him he just shuts down,
And Asuka absolutely loathes being ignored, which it what she percieves that as, and gets increasingly angry and starts trying to emotionally injure rather than just needle (see how she treats Rei)
Shinji and Asuka can maintain a friendship so long as they can regularly get a break from each other but they both need a good six years of getting past their hangups before they could have a relationship that doesn't end in attempted murder.
Then again Rei needs to go on a hedonistic roadtrip or something and grow an ego before she's ready for a healthy relationship.
