http://www.cartoonbrew.com/internet-television/netflix-announces-6-new-animated-series-141106.html

>Five of the shows are children’s series and one is targeted at adults. Interestingly, all five kids’ pick-ups are based on existing concepts, ranging from films (Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Spy Kids) to videogames (Skylanders) and books (Llama, Llama) to graphic novels (Hilda, pictured at top). The sole original idea is the adult series, which is the celebrity-driven Big Mouth from actor Nick Kroll.

>The latter, described as an “edgy, surreal animated comedy” about teenagers experiencing puberty, was developed by Kroll and Family Guy writer/producer Andrew Goldberg, as well as Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett. Confirmed voice actors for the series are Maya Rudolph, Jason Mantzoukas, Jordan Peele, Fred Armisen, Jenny Slate, and Jessi Klein. Ten episodes will premiere in 2017.

Led by showrunner Eric Rogers (Futurama), the series features the voices of Justin Long (Ask Me Anything) as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical, Phineas and Ferb) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) as Eruptor and Norm MacDonald (Saturday Night Live) as Glumshanks. Additional voice talent includes Susan Sarandon, Daniel Wu, Parker Posey, James Hetfield, Catherine O’Hara, Chris Diamantopoulos and Harland Williams, among others. Available to Netflix members worldwide, starting with 13 episodes this fall and continuing with a second season in late 2017.

Spy Kids: Mission Critical

>From producer Bob Weinstein comes an animated adventure comedy series based on the beloved family film franchise, Spy Kids. The show follows brother and sister team Juni and Carmen Cortez as they attend Spy Kids Academy, a top secret spy school for kid agents. When a new counter-spy agency threatens the safety of the world, it will be up to junior spies Juni and Carmen to train and lead a team of fellow Spy Kids cadets against the forces of S.W.A.M.P. (Sinister Wrongdoers Against Mankind’s Preservation) and their diabolical leader, Golden Brain. The Mission Critical team may not be ready, but they are the only ones to call when grown-up spies can’t do the job! Featuring FM DeMarco of Netflix original series Dragons: Race to the Edge as head writer, Spy Kids: Mission Critical will be available to Netflix members worldwide in 2018.

Hilda

>A production of Silvergate Media, the makers of Octonauts, in collaboration with Mercury Filmworks, Hilda transforms the Eisner-Award nominated graphic novels by Luke Pearson and published by Nobrow into an incredible animated adventure for older kids. The series follows the journey of a fearless blue-haired girl as she travels from her home in a vast magical wilderness full of elves and giants to the bustling city of Trolberg, where she makes new friends and discovers mysterious creatures who are stranger –and sometimes more dangerous– than she ever expected. Twelve episodes available to Netflix members worldwide beginning in 2018.

Why doesn't Netflix realize that a sizeable demographic who watch animated series and can afford their service (ie 18-25 year olds) would rather want something more mature and with substance? Like, shit, make something like a Cowboy Bebop, just anything but another comedy

But GOOD GOD, it would have been great to get a Road to El Dorado movie, even today people still remember it, even if it the passing was weird at the end.

Dreamworks was build on the idea that they would make EVERY MOVIE into a franchine with various sequels, but they never managed to do it with their 2d movies, unlike Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and Shreck.

Road to El Dorado was planned to have multiple sequels with Tulio and Miguel exploring the rest of the new world and other mystical places, with their premise of "sidekicks of adventure films as protagonists".
>>
>>84145345
Please shut the fuck up
>>
>>84145307
While it is true that Netflix is more chill, I do feel like they are a buisness after all, and for that they need the traditional types of animated shows that TV networks tend to have, like
>the cynical/dysfunctional family comedy with limited animation (F is For Family, Bojack)
>the action show (Dragons, Voltron)
>the little babby stuff (Lego, Dinotrux)
>whatever else (Croods, most DW shows)
>>
>>84145439
Now that you mention it, a streaming series would almost be perfect for a Tulio and Miguel show. They'd be free to make the plots last as many episodes as it would take without fear of someone missing a premier along the way.
>>
>>84145315

>Animaniacs however is at number 2, only behind House Of Cards.

>Source: myass.gov

Netflix literally refuses to release viewership numbers. They have no legal obligation to do so like the actual TV channels do, they have no higher management or commercial organisations that requires that viewership data.

No one knows anything for sure beyond "well a lot of people are talking about House of Cards coming back on Twitter this week" and other shit like that.

And they have no real reason to ever publish that data. Keeping that behind a wall of silence make it easier to cancel or renew shows without the entire Internet playing Viewership Math Detectives about what's going on.

>Like, shit, make something like a Cowboy Bebop, just anything but another comedy
Animated comedies aren't bad. What is bad is that it often fall into or there exist the presumption it is either South Park tier or MacFarlane tier humour. I wouldn't mind a animated comedy that break that stigmatization, usually comedy is comical when everything clicks naturally and not used as an overtly run gag.

Neither does it have to be the next Cowboy Bebop, while that maybe ideal, I wouldn't mind watching another Moral Orel or Dr. Katz.

As for the next Cowboy Bebop, I doubt that'll happen. Maybe considering Rebecca Sugar's influence, she'll pitch a magical girl anime a lá Utena. Or, maybe Del Toro'll finally pitch that Pacific Rim anime.
>>

I'm pretty sure there'll be Sidonia season 3 next year. The manga is now over and they can finish up the story in one more season. Wouldn't be surprised if Netflix actually funded it this time around instead of just claiming it as Netflix Original because of broadcasting rights, since they are looking to produce more Japanese content too.
>>
>>84147621
Voltron:LD is only $45,000-90,000 a episode, the cheaper episodes are the ones when they just ship the script & sound track to Korea (as only a Korean director is listed).

Not him and those shows are made in flash.

After all South Park is only made with $1000-2000 a episode.

Do you feel frustrated knowing you have absolutely no power to bring back Animaniacs? Do you feel that nervous feeling in your chest whenever you share your delusions because you secretly suspect you're insane?

Where do you think you are right now?

TMS is bringing it back, end of story.

They were tweets about it last year.

No delusions, no insanity, just hard cold facts.

That said, the 52nd episode of Turbo ends with a slight nod implying finality.
It'd be nice if they had another season though.
With the shows having started adding DWA logos to their openings, it would feel like a shame for Titmouse to miss out on getting to do their own just because of timing.

Never would I assume that character is female in an anime.

So I guess that means Dreamworks has its 12 slots filled.
How does the selection look to you.

Is Comcast going to shit all over the blossoming relationship between Dreamworks and Netflix? Or will their love of money wun out?
>>
>>84151345
Like, they can't really stop the deal they have right now for the 12 shows, but I don't know if they can keep it from being renewed?
Up until now Dreamworks' attitude had always been this is an amazing deal beneficial to both parties that they'd love to extend, so I don't know what happens next.

Animaniacs is not coming back, end of story.

Not today, not tomorrow, not in the next decade.

Well, DWA benefits from being on Netflix compared to Hulu (that Comcast co-owns), since the latter is only in the States, while the former is global.
DWA's deal with Netflix extended recently, so they'll be doing good for a long time. When it finally ends, maybe Comcast's NBCUniversal will launch a kids channel of its own, and slowly move the shows there.
