So the new Trolls trailer is out.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyjm5VQ11TQ
It looks better now, I guess?
Better designs here at least
to think i actually rooted for dreamworks
they deserve to be bought out
>>84141192
In the hands of the right artist it will generate some good porn.
>>84141510
>"good porn"
>with these designs
>>84141192
I'm so sick of these crappy mass marketed 3D animation films
I was sick of them like 5 years ago, I'm sure they do good enough with kids to make their money back but dear god give it a rest already, how many IPs are studios going to drag through the mud and beat to death for these kind of movies?
>>84141192
>Pop song trailer
>Singers in the cast
>2 poop/piss jokes already in the trailer
I don't want to say it's awful, i guess it looks cute at least, but meh
Visually, it looks really neat.
>>84141600
It worked for Poppy it can work for those trolls.
>>84141510
>good porn
>bad animation
Not on my watch
>>84141192
Can't we just have Trolls de Troy thread instead?
>>84141774
Silly mouse, that's not a watch!
>>84141810
What would happen if someone made a troll general? Would trolls act civilized as a form of ironic trolling?
Is this just whole movie just one big ad for Justin Timberlake's new album or something? Also, man they want these to be the next Minions, I can tell
>>84141192
Can someone explain to me why they're trying to bring back a fad from the goddamn eighties?
>>84142214
well at least there's a variety of them, and they can talk, unlike minions.
>>84141730
It looks like a bizarre video game style. I like it.
>>84141274
What's wrong, Ronald-kun?
>>84141192
I completely forgot that this movie exists
>>84141774
that didn't stop the horse show
WHY THE FUCK IS THIS STUDIO STILL LEANING ON FUCKING SHREK?
Seriously, whenever Disney makes a new movie they can say "From the creators of [the last Disney movies]" but Dreamworks won't stop talking about how they made Shrek. Where is the "From the creators of Megamind, KFP, HTTYD, Madagascar, etc." But it's always Shrek or something else and then Shrek
I'm sorry but this continues to piss me off
The lead troll looks bleak like hell, are they marketing him towards the Hot Topic crowd?
>>84142375
fucking this.
I think DW realizes no one remembers too much of their other movies. Every once in awhile they're throw a Kung Fu Panda or Madagascar in, but Shrek is a well known brand they created, it will grab attention.
>>84142375
Because it broke box office records at the time
also, memes
>>84142375
Executives are not smart people, anon.
>>84141192
Who cares about Dreamworks? Their target audience are kindergardeners.
>2016
>still having musical numbers
>in a non-disney film at that
>>84142418
I think they're using him to try and draw in the boy crowd. Same strategy as Flynn Rider. All movies try to draw in as many markets as they can because they want that elusive 100% market saturation and the billions that come with it. Unfortunately, when your core concept is about how totes fab hair is and how super awesome rainbow colors are, I think you're about as likely to attract the boy market as a fucking barbie movie. And before anybody says anything, that one show didn't draw in the boy market, it drew in the mentally maladjusted manchild market.
>>84142261
Dreamworks is obsessed with trying to make money with toys since they accidentally struck gold with HTTYD toys for a while there.
They're trying to be cheap and do that with things they already have in their classics library, like Voltron and Trolls.
>>84142655
>>I think they're using him to try and draw in the boy crowd.
With Justin Timberlake?
>>84142821
I said it wasn't a smart move. But it has the same markers as Flynn, who was definitely put in to get that audience.
>Sarcastic and dour
>Downplaying all that dumb girly emotional stuff going on around him in favor of smart, rational manly logic
>Put front and center to increase his marketability, even though every other aspect of the movie goes against his theme and is extremely girly
>>84142821
That'll get a bonus kickback from the female audience.
>>84141192
>that shitty cover of move your feet
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPlQpGeTbIE
>>84141192
I remember when this movie was called Smurfs
And it wasn't much better
>>84143126
I don't think this has real people in it
>>84142261
http://www.nichollsvickers.com/valuable_lessons_edit.pdf
>>84142960
Came here to say this. I got triggered near instantly when I thought about the version in Trolls becoming the only one that people know.
>>84141192
weres my tamagotchi movie dreamworks!?
>>84143557
It pooped itself to death.
>>84143527
"like if you came here from trolls XD"
>>84141192
>that butchery of Move Your Feet
fuck this movie
>>84141735
But, Poppy was reworked to be cute and everybody love it except the sjw who said giving the impression that every women must be pretty
>>84143420
His life must be suffering.
>>84142354
well the 2010 mlp has good animation and kick started the porn
1980s MLP had literally 0 porn
>>84143420
Jesus christ that was depressing to read
>>84141812
>>84141774
>Dawson, NO!!!
>projectile pellet poop gag
This joke was also used in The Secret Life of Pets. Are we seeing the return of the fart joke but instead it's "haha the funny thing made a poopy"?
Looks like shit
>>84141192
Eh. I would a Poppy. Vaguely cute design with a hot voice. Why the fuck not?
>>84141192
Be granted it looks better than the first trailer with a bunch of retarded dancing, but it's still an x and y have to save/find their family story, which has been overdone has fuck. I see inflation fetishists coming also.
>>84142960
>>84143527
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFukyIIM1XI
Just remember it could have been worse.
Just remember, it's better than nothing
>>84141192
>two jokes about characters shitting themselves in one trailer
Dropped.
>>84141192
>2 protagonists
>A male and a female
>The female is positive and everyone likes her.
>The male one is grumpy and hates everything.
>Both have to unite forces to save their society.
Oh boy, sure is a brand new formula
>>84144978
>"What do kids like? So far I've got poop, farts, getting hit in the balls, and dance breaks."
>"How about some funny jokes?"
>"Don't be absurd."
This is a lazy shortcut to comedy that kid's media does WAY too much.
>>84142297
all right, I kek'd
Expect inflationfags to come to the theater in concealing trenchcoats.
Literally Dipper and Mabel Pines
The whole "le quirky CGI adaptation of pre-existing properties" trend can't burn itself out fast enough.
In fact anything not made by Disney or Pixar at this point really doesn't need to exist and don't even bring up Dreamworks, their one out of fifteen good movies doesn't make up for their terrible zombie franchise sequels
>>84146213
What about Laika?
>and don't even bring up Dreamwork
But this is Dreamworks....
>>84141192
a lot better, the first trailer was so cringey, I'm glad they changed their direction on that
Whip My Hair hasn't been in any of the previews, but you know they're going to use it.
It's shit.
>>84146252
Laika can stay, but they're stop motion.
And I meant "don't even bring up Dreamworks..." in regards to arguments for quality.
>>84146315
They already used that fucking Silento shit, it can't get much worse
but troll dolls haven't been popular for like 20 years
The mouths remind me of Aardman
>>84141274
I want to fuck that red troll.
>>84143420
"idea guys" with money
So its a story about a community of small isolated magical creatures who are under threat of being eaten by a larger, crafty foe?
This will be more of a Smurfs movie than the actual Smurfs movie.
>>84142821
>>84142214
At least Timberlake makes some God tier pop music, or at the very least Guilty Pleasure tier.
I think it looks pretty cute
>>84149956
Those do look nicer as toys than the originals. And the varied facial expressions make them less boring.
>>84141340
Same. When they released Kung Fu Panda, Dragon, and Megamind all in a row, I figured they were really improving themselves and finally on the track to rivaling Pixar with their own brand of dialogue-based humor but still interesting stories. They released Guardian and Croods and even though they weren't making tons of money, I thought, yep, Dreamworks is headed in a good direction.
Then Turbo, Penguins, Peabody, now Trolls.
The only credit I can give Dreamworks artists is that they manage to make at least decent films with the shittiest of material given to them by horrible creative execs. This Trolls movie has some really interesting designs, textures, and looks okay for a kids film and ESPECIALLY looks way better than any Troll Dolls adaptation could be, but it's still far below even a fucking sequel like Finding Dory, so who gives a shit about it in the long run.
>Junior Senior
Well fuck, at least the music's better in this trailer. Not gonna lie, looks pretty good to be honest, shaking my head, family. As long as they don't have a shitton of God awful musical numbersWhich they probably will.
>>84145585
The "puffing up blobby characters" sequence was way more technically marveling in Monsters University. That little animation was actually missing a lot of fun squashing.
>Timberlake is the voice of the main protag
>Surrounded by Gwen and B listers
I mean it looks colorful and nice, but come on. You can't have a good movie on looks alone.
Anyone remember there being some fantasy cartoon show about trolls?
Wikipedia didn't have it listed so I don't know if it was related to this franchise.
>>84150955
You may be thinking of Benecio Del Toro's "Trollhunters", based on a kids book he wrote.
That's not related at all.
I mean, besides both being Dreamworks, I guess.
>>84150988
No I'm talking about some 80's or 90's show.
>>84142606
>not liking musical numbers in general
>>84150955
There were trolls in Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears. Could you be thinking of that?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlDs2h8I-mI
>>84151066
Stone Protectors?
That's Trolls mashed with TMNT.
>>84151199
No it's something else. Truthfully, I don't even know for sure they were trolls. The main character had regular human skintone and he had this Conan he-man outfit that let you see his ripped body, but all the characters of the show were kinda stocky and had these elf ears. I think they also had the trolls styled crazy hairs. It was basically just something like conan the barbarian, but with trolls.
>>84151293
Not this either. i wonder if it's some obscure anime after all.
>tfw I thought it lookedgood
It was kinda funny. Looks a lot better now, desu.
>Justin Timberlake
He's been on the VA scene for a while now and just... Why?
His speaking voice is just so generic that you could cast someone with the same damn voice for like 1/10th the pay.
>creators of drek
>modern pop songs
>stupid low grade jokes that appeals to kids and idiots
Oh boy I can't wait
Looks interesting.
It's got the Gravity falls vibe.
i'll watch it on a $4 tuesday at the theater.
>>84152304
So they can slap his name on it, they're paying less for the voice and more for the free ad
>>84152640
I have never met a person who thinks "Hey, I wanna see that movie, it has Justin Timberlake in it!" and I pray I never will.
>>84152304
He's a great Booboo
Just the name "DreamWorks" has so much baggage, that if Disney/Pixar had released this exact same trailer people would be more willing to praise it. :/
You know what, fuck it.
That actually looks like a fun movie.
>>84141274
It's weird how that very first trailer with the twerking has pretty much nothing to do with the actual film.
Honestly, looks pretty great. I chuckled a couple of times. Looks cute. It'll definitely not be one of Dreamworks' most offensive and shit movies.
>>84141192
The hair tricks make it looks like a video game cutscene showing off character abilities.
>>84154884
Okay, Poppy actually looks pretty good in toy form here.
>>84154986
To be fair, it was just a teaser. They don't need real footage or anything. It was just trying to get into kids faces. Like the deluge of the "afro circus" Madagascar commercials, it was meant to be like that.
>>84143420
Cloudy with a chance of meatballs was pretty good though. That's the only one I think that actually went through.
>Russel Brand
>>84150106
Hey man I really liked Peabody
>>84142375
Because very few of their movies have been successful lately.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dF3mDv7s1s
>>84155258
That's because Chris Miller and Phil Lord got their godly hands on it. The children's book has practically nothing from the movie in it, only the general idea of food raining from the sky and then getting larger. It's just a picture book, after all. Nobody but the guys who somehow made LEGO: The 90 Minute Advertisement into one of the legit best films of that year could spin the Cloudy children's book into something that'd actually work. Prior to that, with only the picture book itself to work on, the idea of that being a movie was laughable.
>>84141192
>cover of pop song with some lyrics changed to fit theme
>"oh snap"
>russell brand
>poop and pee jokes
How can such a visually gorgeous movie be so bad............
>>84156893
Because kids and teens love that shit
>>84141192
Jesus Christ, this literally looks illumination-tier bad
First trailer for comparison
