The japs did that themselves when they dubbed it. It was ultimately pretty wasted, since the dub they did was basically 4kids tier (something not unusual for western shows in Japan at the time). They made the show more comedic and self-referential and cut out a lot of stuff for no reason. Same guy who was in charge of that also butcheredBeast Warsin the same way.
