What was the point of making Jimmy a CIA spook and then killing him off in the first 15 minutes?
>>
>>84125406
He faked his death to go after the big guy
>>
>>84125406
They assumed people care about Jimmy.
>>
so Aidan Gillen played Jimmy in TDKR?
>no source
never mind, fuck off OP
>>
>>84125406
"It was a fun easter egg for the fans."
>>
That's snyder saying what superman fans deserve.
>>
>>84125581
A dead Jimmy. What a swell guy, getting rid of the more useless characters in the mythos.
>>
>>84125406
Jimmy Olsen is apparently a throwaway character now

All answers to any questions in this movie can be summed up with hack snyder.
>>
>>84125693
What?
>>
>>84125703

Supergirl
>>
>>84125714
Jimmy Olsen is Supergirl?
>>
>>84125735

No, he's played by a black guy on Supergirl you fucking ding dong
>>
>>84125675
the sad thing is, when Superman tells Bats that the Bat is dead. That's a well-done scene and it's pretty cool, the tone doesn't get fucked up as well
Hack Snyder's just self-conscious and thinks people will think he's a little kid if he doesn't fill the entire movie with doom and gloom and symbols
>>
Because Snyder doesn't just "rustle" jimmies, he executes them.
>>
>>84125603
I really hope that's sarcasm. Otherwise go read Jimmy Pal of superman
>>
>>84125406

snyder's idea of fun
>>
>>84125693
Suck a cock.
>>
>>84125675
To be fair, Nolan's batman is constantly parodied as some retard loony with a throat cancer.

Look, I don't agree with Snyder, it can be done, and he did it himself, his Batman was awesome, better than Nolan's actually. I have no idea why Snyder said that. It's his job to find a way.
>>
>>84125406
Snyder thinks people will respect him if he shocks them.
>>
>>84125406
Because Jimmy is a shit character and is already a character on the Supergirl tv show
>>
>>84125693
You're the edgy one here, pal.
>>
Because Zack Snyder knows that the movies will now focus on the JL, meaning that they won't have time or chance to work with Superman's cast.

He also wanted to shock the audience and leave them on their edge, not knowing what to expect next.

He also wanted to show that this will be a movie where Superman won't be able to save the day or get himself out of a tight situation, even when it comes to Jimmy Olsen.

I hated it, though.
>>
>>84125406
Well, maybe Jimmy just doesn't have a role in the story going forward. It's as simple as that. There's a gazillion other characters left to use, so I'm fine with this, even when I like Jimmy very much.
>>
>>84125406
Because no one cares about Jimmy Olsen in a movie about Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman teaming up. Honestly, can you tell me with a straight face that you would actually care about the adventures of Jimmy Olsen when so much else is going on?
>>
>>84126253
>thinking there is a plan
>at fucking all
>even after seeing the shit we've gotten so far

at best WB may accidentally muddle their way into a decent Batman movie franchise revival.

Because we all know THAT was the hero who needed more exposure
>>
>>84125791
Kirby's Jimmy is nothing like regular Jimmy. If every writer wrote him like Kirby did then I'd agree with you, otherwise he's a pointless outdated self insert for little kids who no longer read Superman comics.
>>
>>84126253
But why use him at all if he served no point in the movie. Even his death is basically ignored by Superman.

He could have just not been in the scene and everything else played exactly the same and it would have been a much better scene.
>>
It was funny.

>Because no one cares about Lois Lane in a movie about Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman teaming up. Honestly, can you tell me with a straight face that you would actually care about the adventures of Lois Lane when so much else is going on?

Why would you put a character in your movie if you had nothing interesting for him to do?

Being CIA is never a safe job if you're in the DC universe.
>>
>>84126372
The studio said so.

Oh wait, sorry, I mean, it's part of Snyder's brilliant kino-vision.
>>
>>84125406
It was meant as a giant middle finger to both the comics and everyone who prefers said comics over the DCEU.
>>
>>84126329
He had his purpose, and if the writers think they don't need him from here on out, why not use this well-known character from the DC character pool? Sure this eliminates some story opportunities, but this is how it is, someone always dies. Clearly Jimmy means more for you, than it means for the story in the movies.

He was this guy's son

And now............................
>>
>>84126372
Jimmy Olsen has never been on the same rung of importance as Lois Lane.
>>
>>84125406
>Mrs. Lane, I'm CIA.

What did he mean by this?
>>
>>84125745
You weren't exactly concrete with what you were saying, man.
>>
How were we supposed to know that was Jimmy. No one ever said his name
>>
>>84126322
They'd make more money if they used him as exactly that in the movie.
Their merch sold horribly as it is, they could have used a self-insert for the kids more than a creepy bathtub scene or "dingdingdingdingding".

>>
>>84126497
He literally said, "I'm James Olsen, I'm CIA".
>>
>>84125568
its in the movie dumbass
>>
Please tell me this will be retconned and the CIA guy just took Jimmy's name/place as a cover.....
>>
>>84125406
Jimmy always gets into wacky shit.

Underrated post
>>
Murdering a character is Snyder's way of having fun. Literally said that in the interview. I really want to get off of Snyder's wild ride.
>>
>>84126280
The Russo brothers have been interviewed numerous times with their involvement in cape films, and were quite adamant in treating named characters from the comics they're taking their movie material from very carefully. A minor character likely has value to any number of true fans in the audience, and they respect their anticipation when that character gets a scene.

Killing Jimmy off when you stop to consider the incredible amount of history that character has with the Superman franchise for such an inconsequential reason is just... supremely asinine. It's like the diector whipped his penis out and marked his territory on the film out of an ego trip.
>>
>>84126478
I'm calling bullshit on this one. Even the most casual fan of Superman that can name the identities of Clark Kent and Lois Lane are by and large able to rattle off Jimmy Olsen, Lex Luthor, and Ma and Pa Kent without effort. Hell, it would be a SUPREME effort for them to dredge up the first name of Clark's earth parents, but Jimmy wouldn't make them pause for two seconds.

2008 Jimmy Olsen would disagree with you.
>>
>>84130244
>first name of Clark's earth parents

Well, they should be able to manage "Martha"
>>
>>84125406
Jimmy was a cover up identity for the CIA guy who is actually named Bart Wilson
At least that's what my headcanon is and what the excuse the director of the next Superman movie will undoubtedly use
>>
>>84130178
>> Thinking that is only a metaphor for a Zack Snyder movie production
>>
>>84125767
I liked that scene, however it's an easy target for people who say Clark didn't communicate enough.
>>
>>84125406
it was zack snyder's attempt to force "THIS IS MY VISION, THIS ISN'T YOUR COMIC BOOKS" to the world.

>shoots jimmy olsen (BUT fails to show who he is in the actual cinematic cut of the movie, so noone actually cared)
>have perry white scream DIS IZNT 1938 CLAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK, the year Superman started.

yeah, fuck zack
