Not a very good superhero is he. What're 'is powers?

He can remove his eyes because they're actually just his glasses

We like it.

I might get shit so I apologize in advance, but I feel like it was an early Bojack Horseman

Better than Bojack desu.

The art is extraordinarily unappealing. It's possible to see past that like with shows like Mission Hill but I also don't remember laughing at Duckman even once. I can't think of a redeeming quality of that show and have no idea why anyone else here likes it.

I guess it's just down to taste.
>>
Is there any cartoon youtube reviewer out there worth their salt besides rebel taxi? Channel frederator is just the buzzfeed of cartoons and Mr.Enter is just... Uugh.
>>
>>84124960
i dont mind rebel taxi, but his enunciations are fucking ear shattering, more annoying that a man with saliva in his voice.
>>
Alexander's delivery made the show for me, the rants were specially hilarious but i can understand people finding the pace too frantic and the emotional moments were a bit too in your face for a mostly black comedy. I can also see the similarities with Bojack Horseman , so i guess if you like that show you may like Duckman too.

not really a reviewer but kaptainkristian has some great video essays about animation and other subjects

Great show. Anything else would have been dragged down by looking so ugly but I think it only makes Duckman better.
>>
It's honestly the best adult cartoon.

I too watched Pan's review.

I guess I should be happy this dumb e-celeb is introducing a new generation of people to a seemingly forgotten cartoon.

For people who haven't seen Duckman before, you'll need to jump into the era. When Klasky Csupo got shafted from producing the Simpsons, I can only imagine they wanted to try their hand at producing their own adult animation and thus turned to Everett Peck.

If you're a chap of discriminating taste (someone who can immediately sniff out the quality in various things) you'll love Duckman.

Watched it about 5 years ago. It was great but season 4 weathered a bit from having like 30 episodes.
Show had some great touching moments and Cornfed and Duckman are both extremely quotable. I didn't like the fourth wall breaking and the family was under used. It had a lot of neat songs

>tfw when I had a art project due and it had to be a fake advertisement for a tv show we enjoyed.

Wish I still had that painting .

It's kinda sad that most of his fans don't really know about cartoons unless it's introduced to them by him. They will disregard it unless it has his seal of approval.

I legitimately think 98% of his fans are underage, especially the ones who spam him in every goth thread/show he's talked about.
>>
>>84127215
While all those things are true, I have kept in mind time and time again that we were all underage once and almost always are influenced by other people.

Hell if it wasn't for my entire family, wikipedia, and google I wouldn't have developed my eclectic taste in music. It's a petty way to look at things.
>>
>>84127171
Someone can't be feed up with women without being misogynistic and MRA?
I'd develop those feelings if I had to live with an ill-tempered, odious, feminist sister in law.

Duckman was remarkably ahead of its time, and in many ways still relevant.

It's a shame the later episodes turned to shit genre parodies. Also wished there was more nuanced plots like 'About Face's, which for my money is one of the greatest fucking things ever to come outta primetime animation
>>
Duckman was excellent, and quite popular in my country. It had a very histrionic Cuban dubbing.

>People in comments are shocked to hear that Simpsons was edgy at the time

Man I feel so old. I remember multiple friend weren't allowed to watch The Simpsons when it came out.

I loved the gradual boundary pushing of cartoons in the 90s.
>>
>>84128679
You're telling me that Duckman was dubbed and aired in Cuba?

woooow
>>
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/alt.tv.duckman

I was one of those people who didn't catch Duckman until reruns on Comedy Central late 90s, early 00s. If you narrow the dates from March 5th 94' to September 6th, '97 you can see people lamenting the death of the show before "Four Weddings" even aired. If you sort through the porn you can see that they moved it to a death slot and killed the ratings. The writers even interacted with the fans.
>>
>>84128679
It aired at a cable channel called Locomotion here in Brazil. Don't know if it was popular because i watched it as a kid mainly for the obvious sex-related jokes but i loved it.

>>
>>84128957
no
the cuban dubbing was made by miami cuban people
in fact, duckman had cuban accent, and cornfed argentine accent.

many years later it was shown again with mexican dubbing, closer to the original, and people didnt like ti as much because they prefered the cuban one.
it is the same problem that happens when a voice actors dies or quits, people are too used to that voice, and hate the replacement.

Ah. Badass

I love Duckman. I first saw it on comedy central late at night and was amazed I never heard if it before then.
I'd make sure I'd stay awake so I could watch it when it was on since it was before the age of torrents and streaming, atleast for myself.

The 4th season was crappie compared to the rest but that's expected with most shows.
Alexander's voice acting was superb and cornfed as the straightman to Duckman.. perverted, narcissistic, sociopathic and downright dick of a Wildman was perfek.
It's actually up on my God tier section of cartoons.

>WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU STARING AT!?
>>
>>84128836
I wasn't allowed to watch the Simpsons. They let me watch Starship Troopers, Aliens, and Jaws. But the Simpsons was straight out. Later saw it in school once then later catcher some episode and was amazed at how tame it was. I was expecting gore, swearing, nudity, drugs, and poop every five seconds from how afraid they were.
>>
>>84124439
I watched it a lot on Teletoon back when. I still like it. It had good voice acting, funny dialogue and (like a lot of shows in the '90s) a surprisingly wide range of pop culture references; they'd reference stuff from decades ago instead of just stuff from when they were kids.

The problems with it are:
a) It's really ugly to look at
b) It's not as socially-aware as it thinks it is
c) The producers came from MOONLIGHTING and they used the same rapid-fire dialogue style (along with a couple of recycled plots from that show) so you have to really enjoy mile-a-minute fast-talking to enjoy this.
>>
>>84132874
The episode about the "politically correct comedian" would be ahead of its time except it was part of a backlash to the original wave of PC in the late 80s/early 90s.

>So this medical caregiver of indeterminate gender--because nurses can be male or female--says to his or her disabled--or should I say, differently-abled--patient, 'Why do you have a penguin on your head? They're endangered!' Haaaa!
>>

Wow... The Superman video was one of the most fascinating, in-depth video essays I've seen about Superman! It honestly felt more like a high-quality documentary than a regular Youtube "animation retrospective"
>>
Duckman was fucking stellar. The best thing about him was that you were well fucking aware that he was a no-good scumbag piece of shit and he was aware of it, too, but he had good points and earnestly wanted to do better and be better.

My favorite episode is the one where he talks with the reincarnation of his mother and realizes that he's a shit father and he deserves to be hated by his kids, but doesn't want that future.

>>84125126
He's the "Every Frame a Painting" of animation, and I respect him a lot for that.
>>
>>84133618
It was always interesting to see how far they could push him. They definitely didn't want him to do anything so terrible that he would pass the Moral Event Horizon (it's OK for him to kill Fluffy & Uranus because they can't really die). The original comic didn't have the dead wife, they added that to make him more sympathetic. But they would push him pretty far into depravity, just not quite far enough to make us hate him.

How did you come to that conclusion?
