From what Wander discovered when Hater launched back the magma drill back into Dom's ship and short-circuited her tech with hisNecronenergies, that in her freak-out, Dominator was actually a evil Wander as one anon observed it previously. She was alone all this time.
And I can think about it, but the tech she had (the suit of armor, the bots, the ship, the everything) was something beyond the level of understanding. There are actually hints that Dominator came up with and taught herself how to build all of this. All by herself. This means that she must've had an incredibly high level of intellect to do all of this from scratch.
And here is the thing. Wander felt despair and loneliness in the past, but this made him become the guy we all love. Dominator however may have suffered the same as Wander due to her incredible intellect, that would greatly impress the Marvel and DC geniuses (Because seriously, who has tech like Dom and powered by magma?), additionally alienated her from her peers at a young age resulting in her to build up incredible frustration and then evolve twistingly into the Dominator we knew.
Wander, with his senselessness while saving her from certain death, actually did something he couldn't previously do since Dom made her first appearance. He made a crack in the shell around Dominator's heart. This caused Dom to actually gain the base to become a better person. Something that will however take extremely long and will be hard, but not impossible.
But we'll never find out becauseDisneywillNEVERGIVECRAIGTHEGREENLIGHTFORATHIRDSEASON!!!

The Loose Screw holds a particular place in my heart because it reminded me of my grandma who used to be part of the police force. She used to really love her job but she had to retire due to health reasons. She got really depressed because of it so I decided to show her the episode. It gave her a new perspective on how age and health can't effect how you are as a person, you can still do what you love regardless of how much people say you can't because of some unchangable factor in your life. Now she's picked up a lot of volunteer jobs and she's super happy about it. She's such a badass and I love her.

I don't care what anyone says, The Picnic will always be one of my favorites. Once I saw that episode I fell in love with the show immediately. It's exactly what I wanted in modern cartoons, a homage to the classic cartoons of old. it was a remarkable breath of fresh air considering it started right when the AT's influence was reaching the majority of cartoons.

The Hero. I really didn't like how it was resolved, it was so hamfisted it was cringeworthy. It was as if the writers thought they were being "creative" with the twist when literally everyone has done it already, to the point where it's become even more cliché. At least The Troll managed to have fun with it's moral, the Princess was like a fun black hole.

I totally agree. I love The Picnic. Is it my favorite? No, but I still think it's really cute and it gives you a good feel for Hater and Wander as characters. I don't get the hate this episode is always dealt.
I won't say it's the episode that made me fall in love with the episode, but it's pretty solid and memorable.
The only thing I will say is, is that I showed it to a friend and he found Wander to be annoying. It wasn't till I showed him a few more episodes did he warm up to Wander.

I feel like Hater was sort of an audience surrogate (at least for me), especially in how I came around to Wander throughout the series.
Hater drew me into the show, a badass skellington man with punchclock minions and a personality similar to Dan in Dan Vs (which is to say petty, but passionate).
I did not care for Wander in much of the first season, he got away with stuff and left Sylvia to clean up his mess a lot of the time, but as the series went on and I saw how committed he was to pacifism, how he wasn't self-righteous or controlling but rather true to his beliefs, that stuck. The second season especially, as we see the effect Wander has on Hater, Hater becomes feeling like he is worthy of friendship, that he can be something else. Then we see Wander has had this effect on others: Jeff, Sylvia, Westley, etc and I see that he isn't just selfishly wandering about fucking with people randomly.
He basically plays Bugs Bunny to the Elmer Fudds out there, but instead of just making fun of them and causing them suffering, he shows them the futility of their path. That they can be better and they should be, not for anyone in particular, but for themselves. They wear themselves out trying to catch or destroy the implacable Wander and become open to the possibilities. Meanwhile, they don't have the time or energy to cause more harm to bystanders.
Wander's pacifism has really spoken to me throughout this series and I wish we could have seen the end result that they were building towards- Hater accepting that villainy might be a barrel of laughs but his talents and happiness lie elsewhere.
So thanks to the WoY crew, this "zany" cartoon had a lot of heart.

I'm sure a lot of people have said it, but I can see WHY people would not like The Picnic that much specially as their first venture into WoY
The concept is not an original one, let's be honest: x character tries to accomplish something and y character continues to distract him and cause x's misfortune while being completely ignorant about it. It's basically the formula of a 60% of Spongebob (specially post season 3 spongebob) episodes, specially involving him and Squidward.
And I do admit, that was my main fear of the series at first when i saw The Greatest and The Picnic for the first time. That the dynamic of the show was gonna be basically your usual "Spongebob annoys Squidward" scenario that, thanks to many post-movie episodes, for me have become such a mean-spirited trope.
However, as I watched more of the show things changed because we got to understand more of what Wander is trying to accomplish and how he sees the universe and its people. Unlike Spongebob who lives fully in ignorance and naivety over most of his antics, Wander is trying to make Hater realize that deep down he is not a bad person, that there is a path for him besides the subjugation of others. We end up understanding his reasoning behind things and his stances which a lot of "We must side with the quirky obnoxious character over the grumpy guy" cartoons don't do.
I think episodes like The Void, The Nice Guy, The Flea or The Box also helped a lot for me to like Wander as a character because, while his reasoning and intentions always end up being the correct ones by the end, we see that Wander is flawed.
A lot of cartoons have the problem where x character does things and the show ahs to force us to believe they haven't done anything wrong or that this character has no flaws. But in here there are plenty of episodes where Wander shows he doesn't have the best hand all of the time, so his struggles to make things right feel way more earned than, again, Spongebob.

The Picnic is an episode that gets better after seeing most of the second season, hell they even remind us in Jeff's first episode and The Waste of Time. My Fair Hatey even had a callback to 'Mustard or Mayo?' And we see where Wander is coming from. He's not being a nuisance for the hell of it, he's actively trying to better someone and prevent the wish from fucking up the galaxy and pretending to be completely naive while he does so.

Seeing that callback with Jeff at The Waste of Time really got me thinking on that, then to the bit about him in The Wanders.
Wander is indeed very aware of the situation, unlike a lot of protagonists in these kind of scenarios, and he is also aware that the typical approach of "Super Hero beats the bad guy" is not a full-time solution, because the bad guy will continue to be a bad guy and others will forever think of him or her as one. Nothing changes.
In The Wanders we see that without the part of him that knows what being helpless is all about, he is just another generic do-gooder who thinks only stopping Hater is the right thing to do. Wander's greatest strength is his knowledge that trying to sympathize to what others feel is the true path to fixing things.
We don't see a lot of heroes in media that constantly try to help the Bad Guy.

I REALLY wish we had a third season to see that aspect of Wander's empathy come into play when he analyzes a villain's wants. He could tell what was driving Dominator eventually (loneliness, not feeling like she belongs so she forces herself into the Bad Guy role) and got through to her and has been working on Hater forever and sees that Hater also wants respect (GREATEST IN THE GALAXY) above all else, so he plays on that. He never calls Hater pathetic even though he was the villain in last place at one point and Wander always fucked up his schemes. Instead, he offered him chances to find respect by other means, like through The Rager episode where he plays along with Haters "deception" or by playing along in the concert. He tried hooking Hater and Dom up because he thought having someone Hater respected and cared about and who likewise could respect him would be positive for Hater.
I'd like to see how he appealed to Jeff or to Sylvia, maybe relaxing for Jeff or the instinct to protect from Sylvia? Maybe he gets himself into trouble to get Sylvia's instinct on that end into overdrive so her previous inclinations to selling her violence wouldn't surface?
