I haven't bought anything but my brother bought the first six volumes of Mortimer & Blake and I've been reading them. Pretty good stuff, though it's racist as fuck against Asians and shows the Muslims as these noble warriors who can do no wrong and are loyal to the death to their British overlords. So it's both good thriller stuff AND hilariously dated. I wouldn't buy it myself, but certainly worth the read.

Don't post my shelf often because I don't have anything terribly interesting and I tend to pick up more floppies than trades since I'm on a budget, anyways heres a new pic.

Beware of the new printing of 52, it is a well made beefy paperback, but it does not contain the weekly notes, because it seems DC is actually retarded and doesn't know how big a deal those pages are.

Alan Moores swamp thing is on my to read list, I picked up the last half dozen issues of soules run and the recent 6 issue mini by Wein and Jones though.
>>
>>84129923
Tbh I only started playing mtg like 5 years ago. The best way to get her into it would probably be taking her to a draft at an lgs, its fairly cheap and she can get quite a few cards. They also have a prerelease event coming up on July 16-17 which you could do plus its a great way to meet other players
>>
>>84130115

oh boy. how to break this to you...
the short answer is, yes?
>>
>>84129923

Play 2nd edition.

Yeah, the old one right after they banned all the broken cards, its what I grew up with and maybe you as well, but it was a much much simpler game then.

Current MTG is an overcomplicated nightmare.

So just look at the tournament format list from like..... 1998 and run with it, and don't let her play a counterspell deck. kek
>>
>>84130398
>>84130280
Thanks guys.

I used to play and i stopped around kamigawa.
I mean when we play Star Realms she gets it and describes things she wish she could do in the game (like keeping ships out as creatures for example) but the number of effects and rules could turn her off.
It's a slippery slope trying to get her into some of this. (I just sorta gave up on comics, I wish it wasn't such a hard hobby to get some people in)

I get half inch plain binders in whatever color I want, get some cheap 3 ring comic sleeve's (ultra pro makes the fancy ones), put issues back to back with a board, and label the spine.

I don't have any new comics so there's no reason to post my shelf again but I have a pro-tip for everyone:
if you don't have anything else to put in those shelves (like miniatures etc) then don't push the books to the back of the shelf, put them to the front edge of it so that the spines are directly beside each other in a line, looks neater, especially if the sizes/formats of your comics are completely different.

it's about how war affects kids
The Divine is about a mercenary stumbling upon some mystical kids in a SE Asian country

Neurocomic is the top left
>Neurocomic is a journey through the human brain: a place of neuron forests, memory caves, and castles of deception. Along the way, you'll encounter Boschean beasts, giant squid, guitar-playing sea slugs, and the great pioneers of neuroscience. Hana Roš and Matteo Farinella provide an insight into the most complex thing in the universe.

I went crazy last few weeks. Picked up:

>Watchmen
Amazing and worth all the praise. I'll have to reread at some point because there were a lot of fine details and threads I'm sure I missed.

>Aquaman and the Others vol 1, vol 2
I accidentally grabbed these thinking I was getting Aquaman: The others Vol 2. It was poor, mostly boring with shit characters.

>Superman: Red Son
>All-star Superman
>Aquaman: Sub-Diego
Sitting on the shelf ready to read

>Rebirth
>Rebith: Action Comics, Titans, Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman
Really enjoying all of these, Aquaman probably the most as it's jumped right into intriguing stories, characters and has a pretty good whack of action. Wonder Woman and Titans look like they will be slow burners.

reading up on Silver Age LoSH stuff that isn't in the archive editions/showcases.
It's fucking garbage, really, but I still sludge through it.
>>
>>84158880
no clue why the never put it in. I'm surprised though that some of the showcases even exist, like that one, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, since they cover relatively recent stuff. I was under the impression that showcases only cover stuff from the late 70s and earlier, but apparently they don't.

>>84134269
>>84134406
>>84159366
pretty much the whole LoSH run from the mid 70s should finally be collected properly. there's a lot of it in the Archive Editions but they are unavailable/oop/expensive as fuck, also the last bit between Archive Edition Vol 13/showcase Vol 5 and the Great Darkness Saga Deluxe Edition is missing any reprinted form (which is 51 issues, 64 issues even if you count from where the Showcase cuts off). also basically the whole vol 3 after those 2 trades of the first few issues and all of LoSH vol 4 need to be collected, so they could use some love as well.
Trades and HCs have the uncanny ability to be sold out sooner or later, DC can't really do anything wrong here.

>Damn. Sounds awesome! Like a GoT type story. Why doesn't DC continue?

because it really isn't so good. and it was probably marketed towards the rainbow brite audience when you look at the covers, but it's more like pic related. in 1983. I still wonder how there wasn't an outrage of concerned parents.
also I just noticed the showcase only has 11 issues of the 16 part 2nd volume. at the 12th issue, Gary Cohn left and it was handed to someone Mindy Newell, then in issue 13, Giffen took over and also handled the 3rd volume (which he used as a bit of an origin story for Mordu) so that's probably why it cuts off there and why the 3rd volume isn't in the showcase either.

Whoa. Yeah. Takes it to a place I didn't think the story would take it based off the covers. Still, a unique read for DC. And I would love to read Mordru's origin story. Don't know too much about him other than he is a badass.

I don't do that, but some of the items were The Nocturnals HC vol 1 & 2, David Mack's Kabuki Library vol 1 & 2, Holy Terror (FINALLY), Madman 20th Anniversary Monster, Usagi Yojimbo Saga vol 1 - 5 and various single volumes including 21 - 29 and Senso, Fables Deluxe vol 1 & 2 (gonna give those to a friend), and a good amount of stuff I've never even heard of before. And this was just the dude's leftovers from selling over the last 2 months in prep for a move to Belgium. If I had known before.

I really only wanted the Yojimbo and Nocturnals, everything else is just gravy. Very heavy, painful gravy. Still gonna collect the Bone colored editions even though I know own that big book.

Is walking dead fun? the compendiums seem a good deal, how's the story?
>>
>>84187375
Complete eightball seems like a huge waste of money when it isn't even actually a complete collection since it omits the last three issues which are also the best drawn of the series and would benefit the most from the size
>>
>>84187438
It is fun light reading. Much better than the show, which I dropped pretty early. Kirkman is not afraid to make drastic changes which also helps the story to move pretty fast.
>>84187459
>last three issues
Yeah. The three stories from the last five issues (19-23) were not collected here because they are complete graphic novels by themselves, not really the anthology format
>>
>>84187746
Well Fanta has treated stuff like Ghost World and Velvet Glove as stand alone stories for over a decade, it probably has more to do with the fact that fanta didn't put out boring, ice haven or death ray in trade and the current publishing rights for those are probably still tied to d+q and pantheon
>>
>>84187459
The Complete Eightball isn't any bigger than the original issues. There's no real reason to put those last three stories in there since they're entirely standalone and Ice Haven obviously breaks the format.

That said, The Complete Eightball is hand down the best collection I've ever seen. I wish more reprints would actually try to match the paper used in the original. It adds so much.
