For whatever it's worth, the Chinese studio said the original screenwriter they hired wanted to have the good guys beet the bad guys. The Chinese studio said that was too western, so they sought to have the dog be kind to the bad guys and redeem them, or something to that effect. They weren't exactly good at English so something may have been lost in translation.

Marketing is key to success. Zootopia has had amazingly low marketing in my country. As a result, people don't even know it's out yet, much less have even seen a trailer of it. Did watch it for the second time with a friend who watch animated movies from time to time, his summary was "eh, Frozen was better".
That being said, i will keep my eyes on this one. I have higher hopes for this than Sing.
Rock Dog doesn't have any U.S. marketing because no distributor has picked it up yet. We're lucky we even got a trailer. Spark is in a similar situation in that it's a finished movie without a distributor, but it doesn't even have a fucking trailer.
The felt-like fur textures, big heads and giant, glassy eyes make the characters seem a bit too fursuitesque.
