The story of Gene, an emoji that lives inside a texting app on a teenager's smartphone. Jump Street proved that reboots of old franchises done by other accomplished writers could be successful, so Sony went crazy trying to find the right thing to revive.
That might sound crack-pot theory, but I do remember from the leaked emails that they were trying to start a Ghostbusters cinematic universe with a second male-led film written by the duo with Tatum in the lead role, plus the idea for Men In Black getting crossed over with 21 Jump Street.
